Synopsis

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author K. Bromberg comes a new story in her Everyday Heroes series…

Control is something Desi Whitman abhors. Why live life in black and white perfection when you can messily color outside the lines?

But when she comes face to face with SWAT officer Reznor Mayne, he’s about to show her just how good control can feel.

“That ego of yours is going to be sore tomorrow.”

“Why’s that?” he asks.

“It’s working out right now, flexing its muscles and doing some heavy lifting.” It’s pretty damn hard to be sarcastic when the man still touching you is making you want to lean in and kiss those sexy lips of his and prove just how right he is.

And just how wrong you are.

A sheepish smile paints his lips. “Ah, but you like the muscles.”

I like a whole lot more than the muscles.

“Mmm.” It’s all I trust myself to say.

He leans in closer. I can feel his breath feather over my lips and the look in his eyes—one that says his interest is as strong as mine: hungry and aroused as hell—is enough to make every part of me want to step forward and into him.

But I don’t.

I want to.

But I also want to slow down whatever the hell this is.

“Hey, Desi,” he murmurs as he leans in close enough that both of our eyes flicker down to the other’s lips as we breathe the same air.

“Hmm?”

“You look gorgeous in that color.”

Oh sh*t.

I just swooned.

First flutters.

Now swooning.

Both are things I never do.

“Thank you.” My voice is barely audible when I finally swallow around the lump of desire clouding in my throat.

“For?” he asks, the rumble of his voice a seduction all in itself.

“For fixing my sprinklers.”

“And?”

“And for the compliment.”

His tongue darts out to wet his lips. “No need to thank me.”

Time feels like it slows as we stand like this in the afternoon sunlight on my patio—me in a bright yellow sundress and him in mud-soaked jeans. The birds chirp above. My heart pounds in my ears. My nipples harden in anticipation.

Jesus, just kiss me already, will you?

“Desi?”

“Yeah?”

Just as I get my synapses to fire and lean in and take the initiative myself, he takes a step back and says, “I need to take a shower.”

I draw in a shaky breath as his eyes remain on mine and their corners crease with his smile.

“It’s a good look for you though.” Nice recovery, Des. At least outwardly it is, because inside I’m kind of a wreck with more want than I care to admit to.

“I don’t need to have mud on me to get dirty.”

He winks, gives me one last once-over with eyes that relay every single thing they want to do to me, before he turns on his heel and heads in the direction of his house.

4 ‘All About Control’ Stars

Desi and Reznor’s story truly was all about Control, and for such a little novella it packed quite a punch! Control was the perfect addition to one of my all time fav series, Everyday heroes: heart-touchingly emotional, raw and oh so ÜBER SEXY!

Everyday Heroes is indeed one of my all time fav series, and every since Desi showed up in the first books as Em’s bff, I’ve been dying to find out more about the funny, flirty and outspoken pet groomer. Well, my wishes were fulfilled with this book, and I couldn’t be happier to find out all about Desi, and see her get her very own HEA.

HEA in the shape of SWAT officer, Reznor, a teamleader that is in dire need of a break after a terribly gone wrong task. Fate took him to Sunnyville and put him in direct path with the sassy Desi, that was hidden a problem of her own, stealing from her usually easy going personality, but still managing to completely captivate Rez, from the very first meeting. Rez was just the right man for Desi, in every way!

Incredibly sexy banter, a lot of push and pull – this woman really made him work for it! – and some of the most scorchingly hot sexual tension filled moments, and plenty of sizzling encounters, I’ve ever read! These two were explosive together! I loved Desi from the very first appearance, but man, Reznor – how sexy is that name, btw?! – really surprised me in the best of ways, and boy oh boy, did the smoking HOT SWAT leave an impression! Can someone say Alpha with a capital A???!!!! Swoon!

Ms. Bromberg truly gave us her usual stamp of superb writing and story telling, even in this compact format. Another huge gift was seeing two of my fav characters, Grant and Em, of the series, and getting a bit more of a glimpse into their HEA. Sigh…

Control was undeniably heart-pulling, witty and sensually charged! As always, and stamp for this 1001 Dark Nights, very much like Scheherazade, I was left craving more and more of Desi and Rez! Fingers crossed we will see more of them in future KB books! <3 <3 <3 <3

“We all have fears, Desi. Even the strongest of us have fears. It’s okay to have one—or many. It doesn’t make you weaker…it makes you human.”

“One time with you is definitely not enough for me.”

I wasn’t coming to Sunnyville to complicate my life, but damn it to hell, I like her kind of complication.

About the Author

HeadShot Color

New York Times Bestselling author K. Bromberg writes contemporary novels that contain a mixture of sweet, emotional, a whole lot of sexy, and a little bit of real. She likes to write strong heroines, and damaged heroes who we love to hate and hate to love.

A mom of three, she plots her novels in between school runs and soccer practices, more often than not with her laptop in tow.

Since publishing her first book in 2013, Kristy has sold over one million copies of her books across sixteen different countries and has landed on the New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestsellers lists over twenty-five times. Her Driven trilogy (Driven, Fueled, and Crashed) is currently being adapted for film by Passionflix with the first movie slated to release in the summer of 2018.

She is currently working on her Everyday Heroes trilogy. This series consists of three complete standalone novels—Cuffed, Combust, and Cockpit (late spring 2018)—and is about three brothers who are emergency responders, the jobs that call to them, and the women who challenge them.

She loves to hear from her readers so make sure you check her out on social media or sign up for her newsletter to stay up to date on all her latest releases and sales HERE
