Synopsis

Gorgeous, charming, and funny, Vaughn Corbett rose far above his less than optimal beginning to become a household name. Known for being a dynamic and unflappable interviewer, no one was more surprised than he when he got tongue-tied over a gorgeous blonde in the middle of a live interview.

Allie Henderson was so focused on her career that she rarely thought about men or dating. That all changed when she came across a silver-tongued devil on the red carpet. The moment his deep blue eyes met hers, something inside her shifted.

Allie was there to support her best friend. Vaughn was just doing his job. Neither of them expected the instant, magnetic attraction that couldn’t be denied.

Would a surprise that neither of them planned on end things before they really began?

The second I saw the sexy as fuck blonde in the green dress, everything shifted. When our eyes met, I was poleaxed. An intensely possessive feeling roared to life inside me. The need to touch and claim her was so extreme that I struggled not to drop my mic and go right to her.

I was known for being a dynamic and unflappable interviewer, yet for the first time in my career, I fumbled for words and struggled for coherence. This was due to the fact that the only thing I cared about was her. Only when I realized that my segment producer had been frantically waving at me from his spot next to the stationary camera did I remember that I had a job to do.

Forcing myself into host mode, I somehow went about interviewing the group of people the girl in the green dress was walking with. I knew who each one of them was, but her name was a mystery because she stood off to the side, and it wasn’t like I could call her over.

The rules on the red carpet were simple and definitive. Talk to the talent and keep it moving. Assistants, friends, and family members didn’t get a lot of play, even if they were as sexy as the goddess in the green dress. It frustrated me not to know her name, but I comforted myself with the knowledge that it would only be a matter of time before I solved that mystery.

After I wrapped up my pre-show hosting duties, something that took far longer than one would imagine, I headed into the Dolby Theatre. I was seated with one of my good friends, Liam Hall. He wasn’t nominated but was presenting, so he was in a chill mood. Typically, we’d have shot the shit and pressed the flesh with the people around us, but I was so busy staring at the girl in the green dress that I didn’t have it in me to do much more than phone it in. I was smart enough to train my eyes mostly on the stage when the cameras were rolling, but every time the host threw to commercial, my attention went right back to her. I hated that she was seated so damn far away in another section.

Oscar ceremonies were known for being ridiculously long and what was scheduled as a three-hour broadcast always went over. Sometimes by seventeen minutes, and sometimes by eighty. I’d never hated the length more than I did then. I silently willed the damn show to come in on time for once, but naturally, that didn’t happen. The fucking thing dragged on longer than War and Peace.

During one of the commercial breaks, Liam leaned over and muttered, “What’s the deal with the sexy chick in the green dress you’re busy eye-stalking?”

While it was true that I was ogling her—clearly not as covertly as I’d hoped—hearing Liam refer to her as sexy set my teeth on edge. That I had any kind of reaction to his question was unusual. I’d had a similar response when I’d seen Dane Garrison take her arm earlier. The only thing that calmed me down about that was the certainty that Dane wasn’t dating her. I knew this because Dane and I were tight. The only girls in his life on the regular were his mom, Gloria Garrison, and his daughter, Maggie. Thank fuck I’d remembered that before I made a fool of myself by telling him to get his goddamn hands off the blonde. I’d never felt territorial about anyone before, but there was no denying that I wanted—needed—her to be mine. That brought me back to Liam, who needed to know that the goddess in green was majorly off-limits.

“Call her sexy again, and we’re going to have a problem,” I grumbled, speaking low enough so only he could hear me.

Sitting back, Liam raised his brows and gave me an “are you serious” look. I dipped my head to acknowledge that yeah, I sure as fuck was. Unbothered by his obvious amusement about what was going on with me, I turned my attention back to the woman in green.

5 ‘ Sweeping Me Off My Feet’ Stars

Swooooonnnnnn….. Vaughn cemented the perfection that is this Love Under The Light series, and proves once again what a winning writing duo Ella Fox and Rochelle Paige are! Romance collaboration perfection indeed! Insta-connection turned sweet and swoon-worthy romance personification!

I couldn’t have been wanting – no, NEEDING – Vaughn more than I did after that intriguing situation we were left in Gage. Well after finishing this story, I can honestly say it surpassed all my expectations. With the conflict set beforehand, and here in Prologue, we are set on a trip to the past, and we witness their whole blossoming relationship, and let me tell you, that this is how you write a deep insta-connection turned slow burn romantic LOVE! Vaughn blew me away, and really swept me off my fit with his seduction game – not that it was a game to him, lol.  This man was all ALPHA, and all the swoon-worthy qualities we want in out romance Heroes: a true ‘Best Book Boyfriend’! *sigh dreamily*

Allie was such a strong willed character, much like her bff, Morgan, and it’s a joy to read how much these women stand up for themselves, but still allow themselves to give in to love, and their men Alphaness, yet remaining true to their spirits. Love them!

This series truly is getting better and better, and with the exponential introduction of new characters, I keep wanting more and more of these secondary characters. Ms. Fox and Ms. Paige really are surpassing all my expectations for this collaboration, and this series. Sweet, dreamy, a hint of humor, a sprinkle of banter and oh so much sexiness : brilliant combo!

And now, much like it was Vaughn’s case in Gage, with that teasing of Dane and Mila’s coupling, I’m now counting down the days for the next of this deliciously enticing series! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

You’re the first thing I think of when I wake up in the morning and the last thing on my mind when I fall asleep at night. Without you, I’m a shadow of the man I’m meant to be.

“I’m yours, Vaughn. Yesterday. Today. Always.”

Synopsis

Falling in love is easy…

New Hope, South Carolina is my home. It’s where I grew up, got into trouble, and fell in love for the first time. Scarlett Kincaid was more than the girl next door, she was my best friend, until she decided that small town life wasn’t for her. One minute she was here, and the next she was gone.

The girl I used to fish with down at the creek is now the biggest name in country music. She headlines world tours, has won four Grammys, and I haven’t seen her since. Until today when she sped through town in her fancy car. One look at her big brown eyes was all it took to stir up a whole slew of emotions. Emotions I’d long ago buried and sure as hell don’t have time for.

It’s the aftermath that’s hard…

There are two things in my life that matter. My music, and my dad. Twelve years ago, I packed a bag and chased my dream. Leaving New Hope and escaping the gossip mill was the easiest decision I ever made. I never planned to return, but my father needs me, and he always comes first. So, I did what I had to do. I cut my tour short and came home, despite having a sister who hates me, and a community that doesn’t trust me. And then there’s Tucker Andrews.

When he propped an arm on the roof of my car, pulled down his sunglasses and flashed his police badge, I nearly swallowed my tongue. Gone is the lanky boy who used to throw rocks at me and pull my pigtails. Tucker is now a six-foot package of brawny, sexy man wrapped in more muscle than I have hit singles. Did I mention he’s a cop and a single dad?

My goal was to help Dad, and get back to my life. But what am I supposed to do when the life that used to strangle me suddenly fits like a glove, and makes me dream of things I never thought I’d have? What happens when the boy I walked away from years ago becomes one of the most important people in my life? I don’t have room for a man much less love.

Right?

Because it’s impossible to hold onto someone who’s already gone.

Excerpt

New Hope, South Carolina.

Population 6,129.

I know every soul represented in that number. Not a single one of them drives the shiny red Mercedes that just went speeding by.

Seventy-five in a forty-five.

I flick on my lights and press on the gas, sending my cruiser flying past the city limit sign and the godawful billboard that sits directly behind it; the one declaring New Hope home to country music superstar, Scarlett Kincaid.

It wouldn’t be a big deal if this were actually her home. It’s not. Scarlett may have been born here, but her fancy boots haven’t landed on this soil in over a decade.

All it took was one call from a hotshot music executive to send her packing before the ink was dry on her high school diploma. Scarlett flew from this town fast enough to leave our heads spinning. Before any of us could process what had happened, little Scarlett Kincaid—the same girl who used to build forts with me in my living room while my mama made us mac ‘n’ cheese—had a hit single sitting at number one on the Billboard charts.

She went from homecoming queen and most likely to marry a rich spouse in our senior yearbook, to the queen of country music.

The country loves her. Hell, the whole world loves her.

New Hope…not so much. And it’s high time that fucking sign comes down.

But first, I have to deal with this speed demon in the sexy red car.

I sound the sirens, and the car pulls to the side of the road and waits while I walk to the driver’s side window. It’s still up, the heavy tint preventing me from seeing inside. With a hand on my holster—because you never know what you’re going to walk up on—I knock on the window.

The dark glass lowers.

My first thought: this woman is absolutely gorgeous. Long, dark hair. Pouty lips. And a tiny pink dress. Her eyes are covered by oversized aviators, but I’m sure they’re as pretty as the rest of her.

My second thought: what crazy excuse is she going to come up with to try and get out of this ticket? It never ceases to amaze me the things women are willing to do to keep from getting into trouble. I’ve been offered everything from a blowjob to a pay-off to marriage.

“Do you know why I pulled you over today, ma’am?”

“Tucker?” The woman smiles, then pushes her sunglasses to the top of her head. And that’s when I see the brown eyes I’ve spent more than a decade trying to forget. “Tucker Andrews, is that you?”

I step back and square my shoulders. “You can call me Officer Andrews. Do you know why I pulled you over today, ma’am?”

“Tucker.” The woman laughs and shakes her head. “It’s me, Scarlett.”

At the mention of her name, I’m met with an onslaught of flashbacks. Running hand and hand through the neighborhood with her, laughing and playing, only to have her ignore me the second we got to school. The popular crowd versus the nerds who desperately tried to fit in. She the former, me the latter, and the pain it caused every time she acted as though she didn’t know my name. For years, I pretended it didn’t bother me because I knew that when I got home, Scarlett would meet me at the fence, and the awkwardness from the day would dissipate as though it never happened.

But it did. Day after day after day. I was a glutton for punishment. There was nothing in the world I loved more than Scarlett Kincaid, and it didn’t matter how badly she hurt me, I was always willing to forgive her.

Her smile and laugh might’ve gotten to me in middle school and high school, but I refuse to let it affect me now.

“I know who you are.”

Her smile falters.

4 ‘You’re In My Heart’ Stars

Kristen Proby and KL Grayson rocked it! This take on the female lead being the famous one and the combo and feel of small town romance, single dad theme SO did it for me! Refreshing and unique in the best ways, sexy, sweet with just enough angst to grip our hearts and warm our spirit. Talk about successful collaborations!

Awww, friends to lovers is always a tricky trope for me, but in Already Gone it totally worked. The long separation and passage between teenagers to adult that allowed the shift in their dynamics to occurred, couldn’t have been better crafted, imo.

After twelve years of being gone from home – where she never truly felt home – Scarlett, now a mega country star, is forced to return to help her dad, what she never expect was her cold reception by her town’s people, and specially her ‘secret’ childhood best friend, Tucker, whom she had left being in the past, with no contact.

“What did I do to piss you off?”
“Sweetheart, that list is so long, we’d never get through it.”

He smells like soap, and he makes me yearn for things I never knew I wanted.

Of course she now needs to prove to all how she isn’t as self centered as everyone thinks her to be. And I have to say this was the one point that kind of aggravated me, was her personality, which sometimes, not always really irritated me, lol. That being said we could feel her effort to show her true depth, and slowly we witnessed her blossom and expose her sweet and caring nature. I could feel her deep love for those around her, it just took them a bit to trust it.

Tucker, apart from a self assumed poor choice in the selection of bed partner in the past – I actually didn’t see much point in the connection of the identity of Chloe’s mom and Scarlett, but considering she was a no show, didn’t affect my judgement of him. I adore a good single dad romance, and Tucker, was a spectacular daddy to his little girl!

Not only that, but we could feel how his teen crush turned slowly into mature love, and how vulnerable he felt in his emotions where Scar was concerned. Once they got together though, it was a joy to see the family  (whole of it) dynamic. And their connection, and attraction… Oh boy, it was SCORCHING!!!

I don’t know what’s going to happen between us, but I know that this—whatever this is—feels right.

My dreams were nothing compared to the reality of having her in my arms.

He’s home for me. He always has been.

Scarlett and Tucker’s love story was not only gripping, but as per usual with these authors, we are left feeling such a deep satisfaction and happy warm feeling of coming home. And that Epilogue was just perfection!

Already Gone combined all the enticing elements for fantastic love story, and Ms. Proby and Ms. Grayson more than delivered! Sweet and sexy with the perfect amount of emotional conflict to hook us not only to these two, but all the intriguing secondary characters. So much so that I am now begging them to turn this amazing world into a series, and give us Dean and Scooter’s stories!!!! <3 <3 <3 <3

“I love you so much I ache with it,” he whispers as if each word is painful to admit. “And I’m afraid you’ll destroy me before all is said and done.”

When I tell you I love you, I mean it. You’re in my heart, and I have no plans of that changing. Ever.”

Excerpt

He picked up the paper, turned it over and read it again.

It stated, plainly, he was fucked.

More alarmingly, it stated, chillingly, Mac was in danger.

This was a problem more than it was already a colossal motherfucking problem.

Any other one of his girls, he’d pick up the phone to Lee Nightingale, the man behind Nightingale Investigations, the commander of the baddest badass motherfuckers in Denver. He’d hand over this letter and he’d get this problem solved.

But Mac was Charlotte McAlister, Jet McAlister Chavez’s little sister. Jet was married to Eddie Chavez. Eddie was Lee’s best friend. And Jet worked for Indy, Lee’s wife, the Queen of the Rock Chicks, and thus Jet Chavez was a bona fide Rock Chick.

Mac might not be a card-carrying member of the Rock Chicks, mostly because she had a job where she worked nights, the time those crazy bitches instigated the most fucked-up of their varying antics. Though they weren’t averse to mornings and afternoons. It was just that the stun-gunnings, kidnappings and the like mostly took place at night, and Mac was busy then.

She was still a Rock Chick, or at least she was by association.

Considering the Rock Chick link and the blood ties to Jet, if Lee knew Mac was in danger, he’d tear the town apart to put a stop to it.

And Eddie…

Now Eddie, Smithie didn’t even want to think about it. The man was a cop. The shit Lee and his boys did with flair and a flagrant disregard to just about anything, Eddie could not do.

But Eddie wouldn’t blink at doing whatever he had to do to make his sister-in-law safe.

And the man had mouths to feed.

So yeah.

This was a problem even more than it already was a colossal motherfucking problem because Smithie couldn’t call Lee.

Which meant Smithie had to find a different set of badasses to deal with it.

His first call would normally be the Chaos Motorcycle Club. Mac wasn’t one of theirs, neither was Smithie, but they had ties to Lee, they could keep a secret, and they didn’t dick around when it came to women and their safety.

But they’d just come out of a war, and like any war, that had been some serious fucked-up shit.

They needed a breather.

Lee, and Chaos, also had ties to…

“Well, hell,” Smithie muttered, the words on the letter blurring, the sick feeling in the back of his throat easing.

He dropped the letter and picked up his cell.

If you couldn’t call a badass…

Then it was far from second best to call a commando.

4.5 ‘My Real Dream’ Stars

WOW… This QUIET MAN completely stole my heart! Pure KA goodness, Mo and Lottie’s story sure packed a punch! Addictive, engaging, and oh SO sexy, this novella will no doubt make want to go back for seconds! 😉

Lottie was the last of the Rock Chicks, Jet’s little sister, and was on the verge of giving up on finding her dream man, and take matters in her own hands to achieve her happy. Well, destiny sure caught her message, because with her being the target of a stalker, she ended up needing protection, and this security came in the hands of a six feet five of – in Lottie’s words – hunkalicious and quiet man, Mo.

He had her back, but she wasn’t back, as such.
Any man would read it the way Mo was reading it.
She was his.

“I got claimed in a King Soopers. I don’t mind I did. As in I way don’t mind it. And seein’ as I belong to you, you belong to me, so I get a say.”

I absolutely, loved, loved, LOVED, how from the get go they admitted, even to only themselves how attracted they were to each other and the recognition of the possible ONE. A well done instal-love/lust is my catnip, and Mo and Lottie’s was done PERFECTLY! Lottie’s confidence and Mo’s loyalty and honesty were so refreshing, I adored how after a pivotal moment they just laid the cards on the table with no games, no BS, and just assumed what they were felling and where they saw them going. The way they handled each obstacle, each doubt, by directness and TALKING, so mature and rational, but still incredibly passionate, is what made these two one of my fav Kristen Ashley’s couples. Totally #RelationshipGoals!

“She’s not under my skin. I sleep on her couch. I guard her. But when this is over, she’ll be in my life. My choice? For the rest of it. So that’s not under my skin. She’s just going to be a part of me.”

This was it.
He was the one.
I was his one.
And both of us knew it.

Mo is now on my list of fav KA heroes! For a quiet man, he sure had all the right words! So alpha, so dreamy, so swoon worthy all around. I adore when a man isn’t really aware of his appeal, and damn, Mo was everything! *drools*

Now I want to stand out all the secondary awesomeness that we got in this book. Not only the main couple was brilliant together, but we got big participations of all the Rock Chick gang, specially the Hot Bunch, and we were introduced to so many enticing new characters that will feature in KA’s coming DREAM series, all of Hawk’s crew, and let me tell you, you will want to read this book prior to that, because it seems Lottie and Mo are at the core of those coming relationships (wink, wink).

Quiet Man felt so much like the classic KA that we know and adore, added that only KA could in this format, that tends to be novella length – and considering Kristen’s usual novel length, it is indeed a novella, lol – pack everything that we love from her incredibly addicting writing, and create a story that hooks us from the very beginning and we just CAN NOT STOP until we hit The End! That’s how masterful her writing is, and this book proves it once again. And with the teasing we got from Lottie on the boys, Mo’s buds, I’m already dying to see if her matchmaking predictions will prove true, in the Dream series. Can’t wait! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

I can handle it a lot better now, knowin’ I’ll get those and wake up to my real dream, right there beside me.”

That night was the best.
But add the end of it?
It was living the dream.
So I didn’t get a Hot Bunch guy.
I got my Dream Man.
And the best of all of that…
My Dream Man got his Dream Girl.

About the Author

Kristin Ashley - headshot

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorize and she hadn’t taken her first breath!). Her mother said they took Kristen away, put her Mom back in her room, her mother looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). Kristen’s Mom remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning.

Nothing’s changed.

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana and has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus, she’s blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. They all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. She grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing, it keeps getting better.

Gage Ryan was a notorious heartbreaker, on screen and off. A confirmed bachelor, this world-famous actor dashed the hopes of millions of adoring fans when he rejected marriage and commitment: no wedding bells, no baby carriages.

He’d never had cause to consider the alternative, but that all changed the night he met rising star, Morgan Kelly. Too bad her first impression of him was less than favorable.

Although their attraction was instant and mutual, Morgan wasn’t interested. Hollywood heartthrobs were trouble. Especially Gage, a man used to women who would do anything for his attention.

Not happening.

Excerpt

I finally had Morgan back in my arms, right where she belonged. We fit together perfectly as her soft curves pressed up against me. My cock felt like it was ready to bust through my jeans to get to her pussy, but I needed her to understand this thing between us meant more to me than just getting my dick wet. Reluctantly ripping my mouth from hers, I growled, “Before we go any further, you’ve got to know that I didn’t bring you here just for sex.”

“I know I gave you a hard time when we first met about not waving this thing around”—she slid her hand between our bodies and glided it down my hard length—“but I didn’t mean forever. We’re way past the point of you needing to prove your intentions to me. You’ve already exceeded my expectations when it comes to that.”

My hips punched forward, pressing my cock deeper into her palm. “Good because that means I’m free to surpass them again in a way that’ll give us both a fuck ton of pleasure.”

“Go ahead and give it your best try, hotshot.” Her plump lips curved up in a slight grin as she issued the challenge I was more than willing to accept.

5 ‘Hollywood Fairytale’ Stars

WOW, Gage truly was Hollywood themed romance PERFECTION! Such an incredibly feel good, smoking hot and utterly captivating story!

With two of my favorite authors working in collaboration, I already expected an amazing story, so I wasn’t surprised by the quality of the writing, but I so happy with how this duo combined efforts. Their voices mashed together perfectly, whilst keeping they individual touch that make me love them so. Gage and Morgan were so beautifully characterized there was no chance I wouldn’t be hooked from the get go into their story!

I’d finally found a woman who was worth earning, and that was damn well what I was going to do.

Gage was indeed the personification of ‘Hollywood’s most known bachelor’, standoffish, commitment phone in all things love related. Well, we all know what it’s said, about the high they rise, the harder they fall, because with how much he was known for his cold regard towards relationships, it was enough one meeting with Morgan for him to start falling HARD! And I love it!!!

I truly did not expect that ‘forever bachelor’ would end up so enchanted instantly by Morgan, but was all so pleasantly surprised, because not only was he captivating in general, but turned out to be a naturally swoon worthy alpha. All the qualities I most love in out male characters, loyal, devoted, possessive, protective with just the right amount of obsession where Morgan was concerned. And uber sexy, of course, because hot damn, the man had quite a dirty mouth on him. Best book boyfriend right there!

He didn’t just look at me like he wanted me—he looked at me like I was already his.

And Morgan was just as outstanding in every way, her relationship with everyone around her, specially her bff, her ‘down to earth’ and genuine take on Hollywood, and her beauty and charisma coupled with her humility, made it a incredible joy to read, and be in her head.

The way they first clashed, and then slowly – yes, I was pleasently surprised by the slow burn of their story! – built up their relationship and growing feelings, it was heart warming and touching to witness. The slow burn was indeed the best of surprises. So HOT on the sexual tension, but so rich to experience. LOVED every second!

Gage was such a PERFECT coupling in every way, the most perfect main couple romance blossoming from the most magnificent of collaboration duos. With this lighthearted but utterly engaging and masterful storytelling, I have no doubt this creative partnership debut was just that, a beginning of something exceptional literary wise. Not only was this first book a proof of that, but with that tease of the Vaughn and Allie’s story, I can already see how gripping that will be, because I’m already BEGGING for the next story in this Love Under The Lights! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

“I never thought I’d feel like this, but meeting you changed everything and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love you.”

5 ‘If you run or if you fall, I’d catch you’ Stars

The best of BOOMS in single parent romance PERFECTION!!! Heartwarmingly sweet, body sizzlingly scorching and soul touchingly realistic, Until December grips you in the most addictive of ways in an emotional journey where, doing justice to its origins – OG Mayson -, family is what matters most and the core of our beings. I couldn’t have adored more this brand new family of Gareth, December and his boys. I fell in love right along with them: Mayson phenomenon at its purest!

Everything about her and this moment is my undoing.

What will you do if I run?”

“Chase.”

Ms. Reynolds characters always spoke to the deepest part of myself, but never any as much as December. I was and am her! Such incredible world building in this Until universe, but even more masterful character creation. I rarely relate with a heroine as much as I did with every trait of December’s. And Gareth… Holy mother of single dads! Not only him, but also his boys, completely stole my heart right along with hers.

“I’m a Mayson, Gareth Black. I know I’m not adventurous or very outgoing, but I’m still a Mayson.” His brows draw together, and I lift my hand to rub away the lines etched between them. “Family, love, devotion, and determination are what I grew up seeing all around me. I know what’s important. I know why it’s important. And I understand that sometimes, even when it’s scary, you have to do everything within your power to protect it. I love you.”

I can never get enough of this Mayson and all the Until characters, main or secondary. It’s such an incurable joy to dive back into this world, and ARR always leaves me simultaneously warm and fuzzy in a happy bubble, but also craving immediately my next Until fix! Indeed I’m already dying for the next victim of the Mayson BOOM!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

“You don’t even realize that the roots you’ve planted have become something to cling to in a storm, a safe place to go to when the winds start to pick up.”

Synopsis

When a bringer of death…

Awakened after millennia, dragon warrior Reaper is ready to fulfill his destiny…until he sees Greer. With one glimpse, everything Reaper has ever known throughout his very long life is irrevocably changed. Greer’s his mate, he feels it in his blood, in his soul—but convincing her is another matter. The dragon clan healer finds him obnoxious and annoying, but he knows a woman’s interest when he smells it. And Greer smells like one word: mine.

Meets a giver of life…

Greer has spent hundreds of years using her healing abilities for the good of others, making her the polar opposite of Reaper. The ferocious war general may be an ancient, but his arrogance proves he hasn’t spent any of that time learning about women. Greer is displeased when her Alpha sends her to New Orleans with the insufferable warrior—then she sees him in action against a menace threatening to tear the city apart. Fierce, protective, magnificent…mate-worthy. Except he’s hiding something from her. Something dark and devastating that could destroy their newly forged bond. Maybe opposites do attract, but if they want to live long enough to find out, they’ll first have to save the world teetering on the brink of obliteration.

Excerpt

Without thinking, she stalked toward him and smacked him on the nose. “I can’t believe you shot fire at me!” she snapped.

That was just bad dragon etiquette. Yet now that she’d had time to think about it, she realized he hadn’t been attacking her, because the fire had gone so wildly off course. And considering the strength she could feel rolling off this stranger, she didn’t think that was accidental. If he’d wanted to hit her, he would have. She was immune to dragon fire—as were all dragons—for as long as their bodies could withstand it anyway. But he shouldn’t have been immune to her healer’s fire. That was something she was going to worry about later.

In response, the male shifted to his human form in such a fluid, quick transformation it took her breath away. She’d only seen a few ancient dragons change forms like that.

Now the male stood in front of her, staring at her with electric, mesmerizing amber eyes. In that moment she froze, trying to decide if she should run or stay.

Then he tilted his head to the side ever so slightly and she forced her eyes to remain on his. This male was a predator, likely a warrior, that much she could sense. It wouldn’t do her any good to turn her back on him.

Finally he spoke, but in a language she didn’t understand—which made her pause.

She was part of the Petronilla clan, and one of their gifts was understanding every spoken language. It was one of those biological survival things woven into their DNA. It was simply part of who they were as a clan.

“I don’t understand you,” she said to the male.

His hair was long, the soft dark waves falling right to his broad shoulders. From what she could see, his chest was incredibly built and muscular. She wasn’t going to look any lower—that was bad manners. She couldn’t help staring into his eyes, however. He had the kind of face that would make angels cry.

And he was on her clan’s territory. Which was the real issue right now.

Though to be fair, he must have been sleeping far beneath the surface so he would have no clue he was on her Alpha’s territory. She turned slightly and pointed back to where her four-wheeler was. She often came out here with it, then stripped and shifted and took to the skies. She just hadn’t gotten around to the shifting or flying part today. She’d been enjoying basking in the sun. Now it looked as if flying was going to wait.

He reached up as if to touch her face but she gently caught his wrists and pushed them back down.

They didn’t know each other and she hadn’t given him any privileges yet.

He said something again, growling low in his throat as he leaned forward and sniffed her. Actually sniffed her.

Okay, then. This dragon must have been asleep for a long time because that was very bad manners. She just hoped he wasn’t as ancient as Mira and Prima, because while she loved the “twisted sisters,” they were like feral animals half the time. Every time Greer looked into their eyes, there was no civilization. They were simply putting on a veneer for everybody. She loved them, yes, but they were far more in touch with their dragon side than she was. Sighing, she turned and headed back to her four-wheeler, looking over her shoulder at him.

The male paused, watching her curiously, but ended up stalking after her, his bare feet quiet against the snow. He didn’t seem bothered by the cold or his nudity, which for the most part was to be expected with dragon shifters. And males in general. They seemed to have no problem showing themselves off.

He stared at the four-wheeler, frowning as she slid into the front seat. She started the engine and then patted the seat behind her.

He simply lifted an eyebrow and shook his head, murmuring something in that language she didn’t understand.

Sighing, she gave it a little gas so he could see it move. Then she patted the seat again. She needed to get him back to her Alpha’s place, and arrangements would have to be made. They’d have to find his people, and more importantly, make sure this dragon understood that they were not out to humans. Not only that, for all she knew, he knew nothing of technology—and given the way he was looking at her four-wheeler with disdain, she figured that was a good bet.

He shook his head again.

“Seriously? It’s not like this thing is going to hurt you,” she muttered. “You’re a freaking dragon.” Sighing, she turned off the engine and got off the vehicle. And when she stripped off her jacket, his eyes lit up with interest.

Of course. God save her from all males.

5 ‘Brand New World’ Stars

Oh wow…. Reaper and Greer were the PERFECT couple to wrap up this extraordinary and addictive Darkness series!  Darkness Rising compacted every single element that made this Katie Reus’ series one of my top three PNR favs! Packed full of action, humor, emotion, sexiness, and kick@ss characters and unparalleled world building!

It was so incredibly bittersweet to read this book, because who wants to say goodbye to one of their all time PNR world and characters?! No one, that’s who! LOL

Well, Ms. Reus gave us the PERFECT COUPLE to close this series, because not only are Reaper and Greer brilliant as individuals and as couple, but DRAGONS!!!! Yep, who doesn’t love dragons?! I know I do, so I couldn’t be more thrilled to read about two strong and interesting ones like them.

She had no time for a rude male. Even one as sexy as Reaper.

It was as if no one existed for him except Greer.

Reaper has just woken up after thousands of years in Hibernation, and Fates had Greer be the very first being he sees. The Dragon of War faced with the sweet and caring Clan healer, we could already see that things would get interesting…LOL

Well, it was such an interesting journey, because with all the insta attraction present from the start, it was not exactly an easy ride, but one thing I can say, it sure was an extremely enjoyable one. Reaper had to not only catch up with the times, fulfill his ‘destiny’, but also conquer the female that he seemed to aggravate constantly with his natural arrogance and more times than none, with plenty of foot in mouth situations, but OMG, were they a joy to read, and for all of Greer’s hungups, and his less than delicate and tactful manner, it was easy to see that they very much wanted one another. And those hints of fragility and insecurity from Reaper, the big and strong dragon, regarding Greer, well, those just made me melt into a puddle! I absolutely adored this clueless – when it came to emotions – dragon. Major swoonfest! And once Greer gave in to the mating pull… WOW!

She wasn’t sure that she wanted to. He was nothing she thought she’d ever wanted but now… Maybe he was exactly what she needed.

She was everything he had never realized he wanted.

Needed.

My oh my, how incredible was the world building and expanding on this one. The revisit of so many of my fav couples from the series, and meeting this whole new universe of new and interesting characters and subplots… The setting of this whole book and the role of this couple, and the clear opening for this new coming series, were so incredibly well constructed and planned, that just proves once again Ms. Reus superb writing talent. I’m already dying for the ‘spinoff’, that’s how enticing Darkness Rising was in the regards of all the clues it left us. Talk about teasing!!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

He was hers and she was his. Talk about being free.

She eclipsed every single fantasy he had ever had of what his mate would be like.
No fantasy could compare to reality. To Greer.

He wanted more.
So much more. All of her. Forever.

He had woken up expecting fire and war. But he had not expected her.
Thankfully the fates had given him this perfect female.

Finally, after what feels like a millennium, the door opens and Dr. Mallard enters, smiling. He’s an older man who is always overly happy. I like him, even if I find his cheerfulness somewhat off-putting at this exact second.

“Mrs. Simms, how exciting to have you here today. This must be your husband.” He walks over to Gabe, who stands, hand extended.

“Sorry, no,” I chime in. “Definitely not my husband.”

“My fault,” he apologizes. “Your boyfriend. This is a new age. Lots of people in lifelong relationships nowadays without marriage.”

            Awkward.

“Nope,” I say, popping my P with a bit more attitude than intended. “We aren’t together.” I look over at Gabe, who’s holding his laughter in and I silently yell Help me!

“Just got her knocked up,” Gabe finally speaks. “Classic fairy tale story of ex-sex turning into a baby. Turns out those silly condoms serve a purpose and really shouldn’t be skipped. Who knew?”

“Seriously!” I yell while shooting him daggers with my eyes. All he does to respond is shrug his shoulders and give me an evil grin.

“Okay, Miss Simms, if you can lie back and put your feet up we can check on this little miracle,” Dr. Mallard finally says as the nurse pulls the stirrups out and helps me assume the position.

Even if you don’t want your ex-boyfriend back you still always want them to think of you as the sexy one who got away, not the girl nude and exposed with her legs in the air while a doctor probes her. Great, fucking great.

“Sure.” I lie back and my head jerks to Gabe. “But you stay north of the equator.”

“Not a problem, Leigh.” He smiles at me. “But it ain’t nothing I haven’t seen before.”

“Well, it’s definitely something you’re never seeing again,” I snap back at him, causing the nurse to let a small chuckle escape.

I try to act cool by the fact that the doctor seems to think sticking a huge wand up me is perfectly normal.

            Thump thump. Thump thump.

Our bickering immediately stops. The room is dark and the monitor next to me is lit up.

            “Is that—” Gabe starts.

“That’s your baby’s heartbeat,” the doctor interrupts. “And if you look over here, you see that small little bean shape in the middle there.” He points to the picture on the ultrasound machine. “That’s your baby. It’s currently approximately the size of a raspberry.”

“Wow,” Gabe and I both somehow say at the same time.

We finish the appointment with a plethora of information. Gabe is quiet and the silliness that existed in the examination room is gone. We check out and walk side by side. Neither of us bringing up everything we need to discuss.

Does him showing up mean he wants to be involved? Does he assume we will get back together? Can we even do this together? Do I want to?

All the questions are running rampant in my head and instead of saying a single one of them I simply say, “I’ll let you know when I have another appointment.”

“Thanks.” He holds the door to the building open, letting me walk outside, him close on my heels. “I want to be here for you and our child as best as I can.”

I nod, but my mind is still back in that office with that beautiful baby. My baby.

            “We ought to talk, Leigh.”

“You’re right. But today I got to hear my—our, baby’s heartbeat for the first time. Let’s not ruin it, okay?” We’re standing in the middle of the parking lot, neither of us moving to our respective vehicles.

            “Okay, but soon.”

5 ‘ Here Comes The Sun’ Stars

Whoaaaaa… What a LIFE IMPACTFUL/ALTERING story!!! You know those books that mark your life and you will never forget?! This duet is exactly that for me! Retake Duet just gave my heart the most intense of workouts. It is so much more than a romance! Garrett and Shae’s beautiful story is ALL about the journey, the healing, the passion and most of all the UNMOVING LOVE!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

I have to start by saying that I was going to separate do a review for both books, separately, but at the end, I just couldn’t do it. Their journey is so impactful for me, and for that reason, I’m expressing in this review, my feelings for the duet as a whole, because that’s what it was, the story may have been split in two parts, but I read them back to back, and my overall feelings are for their story, their path, and all the emotions took root from the first chapter in book one and didn’t even end with the last word of the Epilogue. They will stay with me FOREVER!

“He looks at you like you’re something precious he’s had on layaway for a long-ass time and he’s two payments away from taking it home.”

In his arms I discovered what the term weak at the knees meant. He tasted like happily ever after and liquid lust all rolled into one, and I never, ever wanted it to end.

Another reason for the combined review is the fact that I really don’t want to spoil anything about Garrett and Shaelyn’s story. I went in blind to read this and I am sooooooo thankful I did, the EMOTIONAL IMPACT of their journey is just unbeatable! Every moment was a surprise, every step was discovery, and every single emotion they felt, I felt it right along with them.

The need I have for you is all-consuming. I wake up thinking about you, I go to bed thinking about you, and when I’m asleep, I dream about you. When I think about my future, you’re in it.”

When you least expected love, it found you.

The very first book starts in a way that we immediately know that something happened that tore up and pushed them apart, going them to show us in a intricate and captivating way their love story from the very first moment they locked eyes. It’s a slow burn, but a deliciously realistic and close to heart way. Their blooming romance made me fall in love right along with them. So on On The Way Down, we see them fall in love, and get together, in a beautiful Holywood ‘Cinderella’ like scheme, that is very much my catnip. This fairytale though, is shaken to the core when tragedy, by the end of book one, strikes in the most heartbreaking of manners ( I SOBBED LIKE A BABY, AND I SELDOM CRY IN MY READS!), and their relationship is put to the test in every way.

I’d do whatever it took to remind her of the thing I knew to be true above all else. We belonged together.

That’s where we start on book two, On The Way Back. The title was absolutely SPOT ON! The second book truly was all about recovering and dealing with the aftermath of the tragedy, and most of all HEALING! OMG… The emotional charge, the conflict, the pain, the desperation, I felt every single one of those emotions along with Shae and Garrett. My heart was literally hurting for these two, so damn much! The issues discussed are so close to everyone’s heart in one way or another, I very much doubt this duet can be read without absorving and LIVING those emotions, right along with them. That’s how brilliant and masterfully Ella Fox wove them!

Ms. Fox crafted the very definition of the PERFECT romance hero, ultimate book boyfriend and my favorite EF male character – and I thought Mateo Cruz would hold that title forever, lol – in Garrett Riordan. He is EVERYTHING I want and search in my romance novels, and then some! Perfect in every way, his undying, unshakeable love and devotion thought this struggling and desperate journey was the stuff that fairytales – and romance books – are made of. Truly perfect!

The other was my heart, and I’d never give up on her—on us. Quitting wasn’t an option. I would fight for Shaelyn until the stars fell from the sky and my bones turned to dust.

“I gave you my whole heart, Shaelyn—not just a portion of it. It’s been yours this whole time because it’s constant.

Right now, in this very moment, my heart continues to be yours. It’ll be yours in five years, and it will still be yours thirty years after that. This love is not temporary. It will not decrease in scope or go away.

And Shaelyn… Oh my heart… Even though she’s so young when they first meet, she indeed was an old soul in young body, mainly due to her sad past. She was created in such a realistic and natural way, that I couldn’t help but relate to her, I was literally cheering from her from the get go, and when the tragedy hits them, I was hurting so damn much for her. Not all was heartbreaking, and each victory I felt in my heart just as much. I really was living all the emotions trough her and that is the proof of how masterful the story telling is in this duet!

WHAT AN UNFORGETTABLE JOURNEY! I can honestly say I will never forget this story, these two, and specially their unwavering love! The Retake Duet will go straight to my list of top all time fav, EPIC LOVE STORY, romance novels. Yep, it’s right there in my list of literary masterpieces!!! The definition of a MUST READ! NOW! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

My heart was made to beat along with yours. Until the day I die, it’ll be you. I love you so goddamn much, Shaelyn.

“Thank you for never losing faith.”
“Not even for a second,” he vowed. “This marriage is forever.”
“And always,”

Synopsis

Starla. Just Starla.

She doesn’t have a last name, and she doesn’t need one. Not with that many Grammys on her mantel. Everyone knows her kick-ass, no-holds-barred style of singing, dancing, and living.

No one knows that America’s Sweetheart is still living with the wreckage of four years ago, when her world was torn apart. Losing her fiancé was devastating, but she’s channeled all of that into her music. Closing off her heart opened a hundred new doors.

Officer Levi Crawford, Seattle PD.

For almost twenty years, Levi has been consumed by the law. He eats, sleeps, and breathes work. Not just because he’s a workaholic, but because he loves it. Sure, he doesn’t have time for a woman and barely sees the rest of his family, but it’s a trade he’s always been happy to make.

Until Starla.

Two lonely hearts could learn to beat again, if they’re willing to dance together.

5 ‘You Are Love For Me’ Stars

SWOOOOONNNNNN… That’s right, Dance With Me is a major swoonfest! Emotionally impactful, mind tauntingly funny and scorchingly HOT! Starla and Levi are now my fav couple of this new wave of my beloved series, With Me In Seattle.

I’ve been dying for Starla’s story every since she made that cameo on Breathe With Me, and after seeing her first meeting with Levi on Love With Me, and that little tease of what happened between them, OMG, I can only say I was beyond jittery to find out all things Starla and Levi and for them to get their HEA.

“Touch me like that, and it turns into this.”
“I wasn’t touching you in a sexy way.”
“You were touching me,” he says simply. “That’s all it seems to take with you.”

Oh dear lord, the chemistry between these two is OFF THE CHARTS!!! Those of us that read Love With Me, knew going in that it had to be to leave such an impact on stoic law enforcement officer Levi, but after reading this, I can honestly say that Dance WIth Me surpassed all my expectations in every. Single. Way.

We already new how amazingly talented, fantastic friend and overall kickass, Starla is, but in this story we truly got to know her, her past and her heart. Heart that raced  every time that Levi came in the picture.

After that unforgettable first night together, to which Starla didn’t react very well, lol, destiny brought her back to Seattle, and practically to Levi’s lap. Not a man to deny his feelings – specially when they are as ‘once in a lifeline’ as this ones that Starla evokes -, Levi, even if cautiously, grabs this chance with both hands, and uses it to show Starla all they can be. Together.

I absolutely ADORED these two! Besides being overall fantastic on their own, together they were pure magic! And Levi… This man… Completely stole my heart!!! Yep, there’s a new KP best book boyfriend in town, and he knows how to completely lock us up. SO freaking loving, passionate and HOT! Truly all swoons and all the feels!

“You’re mine, Starla. You’ve been mine for a long time. Maybe forever. It just took me more than forty years to find you.”

Kristen Proby has such a gift for creating the most mature and relatable – yes, even when the character has a celebrity background, which isn’t an easy task, lol – characters and love stories, while unraveling all these emotions and feelings from within our hearts. Dance With Me is written proof of that. So engaging from the get go, gripping and most of all, passionate and realistic! Starla and Levi will forever be on top of my KP fav couples, and that ending was PURE GOLD! No wonder With Me In Seattle started my love for all things Kristen Proby, books like this just take that already devotion to a whole new level. Can’t wait to see what more she will give us next in this universe! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

“Loving you is the easiest thing I’ve ever done.”

“You are love for me, Starla. You’re the most important part of my life.”

“He takes care of my soul. My heart. In ways I didn’t know I needed.”

About the Author

Kristen Proby_AuthorPic1

Kristen was born and raised in a small resort town in her beloved Montana. In her mid-twenties, she decided to stretch her wings and move to the Pacific Northwest, where she made her home for more than a dozen years.

During that time, Kristen wrote many romance novels and joined organizations such as RWA and other small writing groups. She spent countless hours in workshops, and more mornings than she can count up before the dawn so she could write before going to work. She submitted many manuscripts to agents and editors alike, but was always told no. In the summer of 2012, the self-publishing scene was new and thriving, and Kristen had one goal: to publish just one book. It was something she longed to cross off of her bucket list.

Not only did she publish one book, she’s since published close to thirty titles, many of which have hit the USA Today, New York Times and Wall Street Journal Bestsellers lists. She continues to self publish, best known for her With Me In Seattle and Boudreaux series, and is also proud to work with William Morrow, a division of HarperCollins, with the Fusion Series.

Kristen and her husband, John, make their home in her hometown of Whitefish, Montana with their two pugs and two cats.

Synopsis

Edward Fasbender is a devil.

He’s my father’s business rival, a powerful, vicious man who takes what he wants and bows to no one. I only took the meeting because I was curious. I thought he was going to offer me a job.

But that’s not what he’s after at all. His proposal is much more intriguing, and I see an opportunity. An opportunity to turn the tables and bring down the devil.

I’ve gotten in trouble playing these games before. I know when the risk is too great, when the stakes are too high. I know how to be cold and strong-willed and destructive. I know how to withstand dominant men with arrogant charm and rugged features.

Yet I can’t resist taking on Edward.

And I can’t resist the pull he has on me.

Soon I’m not so sure which side of the battle I’m standing on–if I’m the warrior meant to slay,

Or the one who will be slain.

About the Author

Laurelin Paige - headshot

USA Today and New York Times Bestselling Author Laurelin Paige is a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there’s kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn’t seem to complain, however. When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s probably singing, watching Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead, or dreaming of Adam Levine. She’s also a proud member of Mensa International though she doesn’t do anything with the organization except use it as material for her bio. She is represented by Rebecca Friedman.
