Header Little Black Dress

What a wonderful anthology that besides being for fantastic cause, really touch all the right spots of the Romance genre!

It’s always hard for me to review anthologies, specially because I rarely go through all the stories given my literary ‘pickiness’, but this Little Black Dress really was the exception. All the stories got me hooked in the most diverse ways, and I adored the fluidity to which we go from one story to the other. The only thing missing for me even considering the short length of the stories  – and the reason for this not being a full five stars – was the lack of at least an hint of an ‘epilogue’, maybe just a statement/paragraph into the couples future, perhaps even in the adjoining story. That really was the only point, because apart from that it was perfect!

The LBD really was a natural and thought out connection between all the storylines, and goes to show that no matter the kind of girl you are, a Little Black Dress always hits the spot – in this case, literally!!! 😉

ABBY’S ANGELS – SARAH O’ROURKE

The perfect start for this anthology!

I adored Abbigail and Whitlock’s story! For me it’s incredible refreshing reading a story about a married couple, and specially one as devoted and loving as these two.

Because while Abby hadn’t been his first lover, he’d known the moment he tasted her lips for the first time that she would be his last.  She’d be his everything.  Until he took his last breath.

Their story touched me deeply, and the serious and in depth issues of their married life couldn’t have been more beautifully written or had a more dreamy outcome. But rest assured that just because were talikng about a couple on a decade old marriage doesn’t mean any less steam. Quite the contrary! Who knew an apparently uptight and by-the-book college professor could be such a dirty talker?! These two really burn down the sheets, it’s a wonder how the lucky little black dress survived to pass along to Lucy!!!

“You know damn well that after months of celibacy, the last thing I want to do is waste my cum by exploding in your hand.  It belongs inside you.  Deep, deep inside you, Abby girl,”

LUCY’S A DREAMER – BRYNNE ASHER

After a more serious uptake on a relationship, Brynne Asher gives us a more light hearted and humorous version of one with Lucy – Abigail’s free spirited younger sister.

Vaughn had been her teenager crush, her brother’s best friend, her dream man, so when she wakes up next to him after a torrid night of incredible sex, let’s just say that that her flighty nature takes over. But worry not, because Vaughn knows exactly how to handle that.

You can bet this fine ass the first possible moment I can get you alone, I’ll be working on your feng and your shui.

OMG, these two really gave us some laughing out loud moments, specially Vaughn, which surprised me in the best of ways. Who can resist a man who knows what he wants and doesn’t allow any obstacle – specially in the shape of a big brother – to stop him from getting it, or in this case her?!

“Never wanted anything as much as you.”

In the end Lucy realizes that there’s no point in avoiding confrontation or fighting the unavoidable, because sometimes, it’s more than worth it, and dreams do come true!!!

You’re my dream, Vaughn Isaac Rowe.  I’ll never want anyone but you.”
Just so you know, you’re the best thing I never knew to dream.”

KISS ME, KATIE – SARAH CURTIS

I seriously adore this trope! What is it about two people in love/lust for one another and doing patrol together in a small police car that pushes my buttons?! Don’t really know the reason, but it totally works for me!

Katie and Ethan have been working alongside as partners for over six months. Six months where they got deeper and deeper under the other’s skin, and fell in love. The problem was that both were afraid to loose they well earned friendship, and that the other didn’t reciprocate their feelings.

The golden opportunity presented itself to Ethan when Katie asked him to pretend to be her boyfriend. He accepted, of course, but pretending was the furthest thing from his mind…

“You’re not going to give me a tour of your house first?”
“You’ll get your tour when I fuck you in every room.”

One kiss, one touch was enough to explode their repressed desire for one another, and from that moment on, there was no turning back. Not that any of them wanted to. LOL

“No, sweetheart, wrong fairy tale.  You’re the enchanting Siren, luring this captivated fool to his untimely death with your tempting song.”

Loved both the main characters, but Ethan thoughts really were a special brand of sexy and steamy deliciousness!

“Six fucking very long months of watching you,” his face drew closer, “wanting you,” closer, “waiting for you, ’til I fucking needed you more than my next breath.”

WINNIE MAE – LAYLA FROST

Layla Frost really creates the sassiest, strongest and funniest female main character, and Winnie is proof to that!

“Yes, it keeps me busy. But that’s what I like. I’m a doer, you know?”
It was a massive lie. I was a sleeper.

But even the totally kickass, deeply independent and sexual uninhibited Winnie can catch the surprise of her life after a supposed one night stand, an unforgettable one at that,  when against all odds, and internal struggle, it becomes so much more than that.

After an apparently successful  and regretful ruse, the problem was coming clean and showing her true colors. What she had no idea was that her shiny personality shone through no matter the elaborate artifice.

“I think you’re perfect as you are,” I said. “Minus the Cinderella act. Although, I think she left a glass slipper behind, and not undies.”

Who knew she was the one getting the shock of revelation, because Max – one sexy devil, btw –  only ever saw the true Winnie, and there’s was no doubt that he more than liked what he saw!!!

And that office sex scene… SCORCHING!!!

“I love having your actual hands on me. My imagination is a poor fucking substitute.”

LAYLA FROST

7792423

Layla Frost has always been a rebel. A true badass.

Growing up, Layla used to hide under her blanket with a flashlight to read the Sweet Valley High books she pilfered from her older sister. It wasn’t long before she was reading hidden Harlequins during class at school. This snowballed into pulling all-nighters after the promise of “just one more chapter”.

Her love of reading, especially the romance genre, took root early and has grown immeasurably.

In between reading and writing, Layla spends her free time rocking out(at concerts, on the couch, in the car… Anywhere is a stage if you get into it enough), watching TV(the nerdier the better!), and being a foodie. Though she lives in NY(the state, not the city), she’s an avid Red Sox fan.

SARAH CURTIS

12823436Hi everyone,

I’m Sarah Curtis (that’s a pseudonym of my kids’ names). I’m a 47 year-old mother of two, grandma of 2 and live with my husband of 30 years in Southern California.

I write steamy contemporary romance novels about sexy alpha males and the heroines who steal their hearts.

I’m addicted to coffee, Red Bull, Lay’s potato chips, and ice cream. When I’m not writing (which is hardly ever, hence the addiction to coffee and Red Bull) I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and watching football (Go Pack Go).

Between them, they have four children and eighteen years of marriage…one to a super soldier and the other to egomaniac engineer. They hate empty chocolate wrappers and writer’s block, love to talk to readers…and oh, by the way, they write about strong, kick-ass women and hot alpha heroes!

Synopsis

Angie is a survivor.  Anything you could throw at her, she could overcome.

After her father left her like a pile of unwanted trash, she began fighting.  Fighting to build a life. Fighting to keep her child. Fighting to matter.

She thought she had it all figured out.

Then Bowen Race Tannenbaum walks into her life, turning it into a flurry of confusion, hope, and then ultimately despair.  He tore down, brick-by-brick, her carefully constructed world, leaving her heart in tatters and longing for more. Such as a happily ever after, something that wasn’t ever going to happen for her. Not when she couldn’t give him what he wanted.  He’d break her, and she couldn’t be put back together a second time.

Bowe wasn’t always so jaded, but when you keep drawing a losing hand, it tends to affect a man. He didn’t mean to lash out so carelessly. But he was so over being told no. He was done being lied to. He was through with being cheated on.

This time, his heart was getting what it wanted. If Angie wasn’t able to see what he was offering, what was right here in front of her, well then, he’d just have to damn well show her.

Excerpt

I headed toward the yelling. The closer I got, the louder it became.

At first I wasn’t sure what it was. Then the closer I got, the more I realized that it was someone cheering. Some sort of competition from the sound of it.

The moment I rounded the corner of the firehouse, I could see what everyone was cheering and yelling about.

The firehouse stood on a large hill or sorts, and the moment I cleared the building, I could see down into the valley below the hill, not far, but far enough that I could see over the men’s heads, straight for the obstacle course below.

Bowe had already started his testing.

Feeling like shit that I’d left him with Elise too long, and he’d had to bring her with him, I automatically started scanning for her, and found her with PD.

Once I saw that she was happy, I moved my gaze back to the course, and was amazed by how fast Bowe was moving.

A man was also running with him, and upon closer inspection, I realized it was Booth.

Booth, I’d heard, held the best time on the course.

And it looked like Bowe was holding his own.

He wasn’t winning, no, but for him being off for so long, I thought he was doing pretty damn good.

Then instead of taking the last flight of stairs with his patient, he jumped over the side, cradling the dummy.

It, of course, wouldn’t work in real life.

Not with someone that was sick or in need of life saving measures.

But it worked for now.

Laughing out loud, I yelled.

“Go, Bowe! Go!” I screamed, cupping my hands around my mouth to project the sound further.

He didn’t hear me over the crowd, but my daughter did.

She turned her head, and immediately started to clap her hands as she realized it was me.

Grinning from ear to ear, I walked towards her, glancing over her shoulder at Bowe as I moved.

I weaved through the throng of men, some firefighters

Bowe had just crossed the finish line, Booth very close at his heels, when I reached Elise.

“Hey there, baby,” I cooed.

She giggled, but didn’t hold her hands out for me, so I chose to let PD hold her for a few more seconds as I turned to the field.

That’s when I saw Bowe.

Shirtless.

Laughing his ass off while he shook Booth’s hand, who, conveniently, was also shirtless.

Both men were wiping sweat out of their faces with their shirts, talking about what I’d guess was the course they’d just run, when Bowe’s eyes lifted and found mine.

I waved, and he grinned, full out.

His beard and sweat slickened hair made him look rough and delicious, and I wanted to freakin’ throw myself at him.

I had a little bit of decorum, though, and managed to give him a small peck on the cheek the moment he arrived at my side.

“When did you get here?” he asked, slightly out of breath.

I started to lean back when he started to lean forward, and his eyes started to dance as he moved with me.

“About two minutes ago,” I giggled when he captured me around the waist and hauled me against him.

“My wife doesn’t kiss me like that when I’m sweaty,” a man from my side whined.

Yes, a grown man with six foot two inches of solid muscle, whined.

I gave him a look, which clearly, he read, causing him to grin.

“The name’s Luke.” He offered me his hand. “And I’m the SWAT team leader.”

I shook his offered hand and dropped it after two pumps, trying in vain to disentangle my body from Bowe’s.

“The problem, old man, is that you give her a choice,” another, a redhead this time, called from somewhere behind me.

“Miller,” someone said. “Mercy would kick your ass if she thought you were not letting her have her way.”

Header Put Out

Seriously!!! This series keeps getting better and better, so much so that it remains one of my all time favorites, and my absolute fav from Lani Lynn Vale.

Bowe we have met long ago at the beginning of the series  and he has been a standing feature all throughout it, making small cameos where it’s been pointed out more than once by the previous heroines what a delicious catch he is with his smoking hot looks and his irresistible deep voice.

Angie we meet on the previous book, Controlled Burn, were she played the mysterious not-so-effective assistant to July on her renovation business. Her hinted personality there couldn’t have been more different than the one that is revealed to us in this book, and I was beyond pleasant surprise. She is a fighter in every way Bowe came across her there, and was forever captivated. From that moment on he pursued her relentless, since something told she was the one for him. She made him feel things he needs felt before, and he wasn’t ashamed to acknowledge them.

“It…you make me…I swear I feel things when I’m around you that are completely irrational.  A paramedic should be able to put those feelings on hold, but I can’t. Something about you makes my heart beat faster.”

The problem was that Angie’s life was a complicated one. Besides an huge abandonment issue cause by her father, her personal past love was the thing nightmares were made of, and to top it of, impossible to shut down forever. So, it’s no wander that when Bowe showed interess she ran for the hills, and rejected every single one of his advances for months.

Bowe was NEARLY the perfect hero, and his sensible side and his lovable nature coupled with that sexy as hell package made it so, but I so wanted he hadn’t been detained by Angie’s pushing away – yes, she did it for far too much and too long, no doubt – and hadn’t giving up on pursuing her, and then the revelation and scene at 5%!!!! I wanted to scream!!! Really, If that scene/part wasn’t there I would have given the book the five stars it deserved, but that one page was enough for him to let me down ( smh at you Lani, you meanie! ) and take him some points down from the perfect man and best book boyfriend he could have conquered, because really he was up there with Tai, from Shock Advised – my  LLV best book boyfriend and male main character perfection – , for all the rest of the book he was absolutely swoon worthy! If I could just let that one scene go… I really, really wish it wasn’t there. 🙁

Anyway, don’t let me in any way spoil your Bowe high, because believe that piece of hot deliciousness is going to make you sigh and swoon! He’s just THAT good!!! So much so that Angie tried with all her might resist, but really even she knew she couldn’t resist THAT forever!!! LOL

“If we do this,” I said, pressing a kiss to her lips. “I’m not leaving. I’m staying. Forever. You literally won’t be able to get rid of me. I’ll move in here permanently.  Let my lease go.  Set up shop.  Seriously…I’m yours.”

Oh, and did I forget to mention his scorchingly HOT bedroom skills???!!! Honestly, be prepared because Lani come up with all the guns for this man! Bowe should probably come with a warning! It really is the quiet ones we need to look out for! WOW *cue fanning myself*

The man had fucking superpowers or something.
He’d gone from timid rabbit to voracious bear in three seconds flat, and I couldn’t find one single complaint about it.

“They’re freakin’ beautiful, because they are a part of you.” He stared into my eyes.  “The story behind them is ugly, but that’s a part of life.  You have to sometimes go through ugly to get beautiful.”

Not only that, but his hidden sensibility and bit of fragility made him impossible not to love as Angie soon found out, but it was seeing him with her baby girl Elise, to whom he instantly gave a part of his heart, that really sealed the deal. How could she not? Big sexy men with babies, who can resist them?! Specially one so in touch with his feelings and emotions!

“I fucking love you.  Every once in a while, I’m going to screw up. I’m going to piss you off and make you cry. I don’t mean to.  I don’t want you to cry.  But I will, because I’m a fucking human being.  I’m not a machine. I have feelings.

Put Out really was a fantastic and unforgettable story, and Angie, Bowe and Elise made go through all the feels! Of course we also had the usual deliciously thrilling and enticing Lani Lynn Vale moments, filled with suspense, romance, humor and plenty of steam! It gets you hooked from the start and keeps you begging for more! Yes, as you know I’m that greedy and can’t wait to see what comes next – yes, I’m looking at you Fatbaby, come to mommy!!!

“Jesus, Bowe,” I gasped, my hands going up under his arms to clutch his strong shoulders.  “What are you doing to me?” He pulled back and looked me dead in the eyes, the only light shining was the full moon from outside. But it was enough.  It was enough to see everything in his eyes all at once.
“Loving you, Ang.  Loving you.”

I love you.  I love you.  I love you.
I can’t say it enough that I love you. I love you more and more every day.  I miss you when you’re not there. I miss you when you’re in the other freakin’ room.

Header Jail House Rock

What an amazing smutty debut for the duo, Liberty Laine!

Short, sweet, sexy, safe and super funny, that’s how the words I’d use to describe Jake and Millie’s delicious story on Jail House Rock. These two get us hooked from the very beginning and their antics and laughing out loud moments just make us devour it in one sitting.

“I said Code Red,” I reply, ignoring Jake’s response.
“Red means ‘I’ve been kidnapped. Come fast,’ right?” she asks while rubbing her sore arm. Trying to break the door down with her small frame might not have been her best decision.
“Tillie! That’s Code Blue! Code Red was ‘I’ve been kidnapped, but it’s all good and I think I want to stay.’ I’m not leaving here. He has all the orgasms,”

It was a goddamn code blue, all right. As in blue balls. Fucking Tillie. (Jake)

An OTT alpha bondsman and one (ok, two, since her twin sister is even worse) quirky – and a bit crazy – wannabe singer, make this one interesting reading. It was a true spiced up rom com at its best and I can’t wait wait to see what these ladies brings us next, they definitely got on my auto-read-author list! I hope next we get a equally enticing story for Tillie, Millie’s naughty sister!

I love your awful singing. I love your ridiculous antics. I love how you love your crazy criminal-ass sister. I love it all, and I want it for always. I don’t know what you have in store for me because you always seem to surprise me, but I want those surprises too,”

More than just a dimpled smile and chiseled jaw, Theo Amato’s quick-thinking and bold confidence made him successful. Heavy responsibilities left time for close friends and family, but nothing more. It wasn’t until he looked into a pair of big green eyes that his focus changed.

Full lips, a gorgeous face, and an endearing personality had him hooked from the start.

There was nothing Dahlia Kincaid enjoyed more than a good book, a funny movie, and a full night’s sleep. Long workdays meant she rarely had time for any of them, but the sacrifice was worth it to live in the city. It wasn’t until she met a man with model good looks and sexy veined hands that her life changed in ways she’d never even known to dream of.

Wickedly sweet, Theo gently and strategically pulled Dahlia from her rut, handing her the world in the process.

But shadows play tricks on the eyes, and life wasn’t always what it seemed.

Header With Us

Holy smokes!!! With Us blew my freakin’ mind and Theo and Dahlia stole my heart!!! What an way to open up the new year with extraordinary story!!! Adored every single word of it, and Theo… Swoon… He is PERFECT! A true Must Read!

Theo and Dahlia meet in the most ordinary of ways, with him taking a glimpse at her working on a coffe shop, but their story is anything but.

Dahlia has been alone in life for so long, and struggling to live day by day, working herself to the bone, that when a handsome – ok, smoking HOT, LOL 😉 –  stranger starts treating her like she truly deserves, showing her a whole new world of love and care, even though it’s not easy for her to trust, she slowly let’s herself believe in him and he doesn’t disappoint…

The way his body surrounded me, blocking out the world and making me feel safe, was like nothing I’d ever imagined.

And that was my life with him.

Protected.

Worshipped.

Happy.

Loved.

Theo is a hard man, and with his role in his world, there was no other way, but even in his first contact with Dahlia he has been different. She captivated and enraptured him at very first sight, and slowly and thoughtfully he conquered her, as she conquered him. Only she saw this sweet and tender side of him. His love shone through in every act, every touch, every word.

It was the closest I’d felt to anyone. Ever. There was a connection beyond our bodies. The way he touched me, the way he moved inside me…

It was more.

Their connection was undeniable, and every one in contact with them had no doubt of their love, and were just as delighted by it. His family was just as amazing as Theo himself and took Dahlia in and loved her like one of their own, given her something that she never had before, and that meant the world to her. Never again would she be lonely. She would be forever theirs. And to Theo, she would be forever his, he would make sure of it.

“Because, about that, he’s right. Everyone knows I love you. That it’s never, ever been like this.” Tucking my hair behind my ear, his fingers skimmed the exposed skin of my neck until they were curled around the back of it. “That I’m addicted. Obsessed.” Lowering his face into mine, he blocked out everything else. His eyes were so dark, his voice a low promise. “There’s nothing I wouldn’t do to keep you, Dahlia.”

I couldn’t have loved his possessive and obsessive streaks more. He was the perfect example of a loving, caring and sensible – given how slowly he enchanted and seduced her, respecting her fears and deep seated doubts – alpha, but just as obsessed, possessive and protective as we love – ok, ok, at least I –  our romance heroes.

“Tied to me. I wanted you wrapped up and in so deep, you wouldn’t leave once you knew. I’d planned to tell you once I had you even half as addicted to me as I am to you. Like my next breath doesn’t matter if I don’t have you. Like nothing fucking matters without you.”

Without revealing too much, of course that when Theo’s secret and hidden world comes to light things aren’t as simple as expected, and Dahlia’s old doubts and fears come crashing, and will put their love to the test.

“Never,” he swore, the tone of his voice almost painful to hear. “I should. I shouldn’t have gotten involved with you at all, dragging you into my world. But I did, and I’m never letting you go. I’d give up everything else before I let that happen, Dahlia.”

“If things were black and white, light or dark, it’d be easy. But Theo’s gray. He’s a shadow.”

This world, or better yet, the book’s whole universe is beautifully and realistically written. There were no exaggerations or OTT stereotyping, and I adored that because it really took me into their scenes and world along with the characters. I was living the events with them, but also feeling what they were feeling…

When his breathing evened out in sleep, he still held me tight. Like I was his world, and he was afraid he’d lose me.

Theo and Dahlia were, like I’ve said before, PERFECT in my opinion, and their love story gave me all the feels, so I couldn’t have asked for more. Their love and their love story had, and was EVERYTHING! Dahlia duality of inner strength and hinted fragility was the perfect contrabalance for Theo’s protective and caring – even if hidden – nature. They were perfect for one another.

But I wasn’t going anywhere. I may have been dancing with the devil, but I’d accepted that.

Because the devil needed love, too.

And I’d be damned if anyone else was going to give it to him.

She was my addiction. My obsession. My entire fucking universe. Each time she came made me crave it again.

And just like their love itself, Layla Frost gave us everything in this story! A beautiful love story, enticing suspense, perfect main characters and amazing secondary characters, and extraordinarily developed storyline.Oh, and let’s not forget, some scorchingly HOT scenes!!! With Us is without a doubt a must read that I recommend to all the Romance lovers. Layla Frost was already part of my favorite, auto-read authors, and this book more than cemented that, it knocked it out of the park, and with the introduction of so many captivating characters I can’t wait for her next book! Seriously, I can’t wait! I want it now!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

I’d been addicted and obsessed since the first time I’d seen her. It didn’t matter how many minutes I spent with her, or how many times I fucked her, I’d always be that way.

Addicted and obsessed.

Excerpt

~twenty-four years ago

Nick pressed two fingers into the sleep deprived headache pounding in his temple and tried to concentrate on professor Jenkins’s explanation of ideal gas law. He circled a line of notes, ignored the knock on the auditorium door until he heard the familiar cry. Hannah, who he’d left in the university daycare two hours ago.

The high pitched wail wasn’t his two year old sister’s hurt cry. It was her scared cry with a touch of pissed off. In the six months since their parents’ death, he’d learned to tell the difference. He’d learned a lot of things. Like if he didn’t take her to the bathroom, she’d likely wait too long and have an accident. Like green beans made her throw up, but she’d eat them if he told her to. And she would never, ever go to sleep without Mr. Bunny.

He was up, out of his seat, and halfway down the auditorium stairs before his professor laid his pen down.

Nick’s eyes narrowed on the young blonde in an oversized sweatshirt with silk greek letters sewn on the front. She held a sobbing Hannah dressed in the sunny yellow sundress he’d picked out that morning. She hadn’t been crying when he left her. Now her eyes were red and snot mixed with tears dripped into her mouth. Hannah lunged for him. His arms engulfed her small body and his heart squeezed like it always did when she held onto him.

“I stay you,” Hannah said. Each word tumbled out of her with a jerk of her tiny shoulders.

“What happened to her?”

“Nothing happened to her. She hasn’t stopped screaming for the past hour and she bit three people. We can’t keep her like that.”

Several responses came to mind.

She’s just a baby.

She missed her nap.

And the loudest of all, it was my fault for leaving her.

Hannah raised her head to look at him, giant tears hanging from golden lashes. “I bite.”

“Well. At least she’s honest.” Professor Jenkins turned his questioning eyes to Nick. “She yours?”

He hesitated, but only a second. “My sister. But yes, she’s mine.” And at that moment she became even more his, which seemed to be the case every day. Every day, a little more his.

Everybody who follows my reading/reviewer journey knows how much I adore ( or better yet, worship) Claudia Connor and her unmeasurable writing gift and this book was no exception, because WORTH THE WAIT gave me ALL the feels!!!

I laughed, I cried – a LOT – , got mad and smiled with Nick and Mia’s story, and was so very happy to revisit some of my favorite characters from the previous books of the The McKinney Brothers series and for all these reasons Claudia Connor is still one of my all time favorite authors.

I adore Claudia Connor’s writing and her incredible talent portraying feelings and emotions that touch us deeply in a way that very few author’s are able to, and if you haven’t yet read any of her books, you HAVE to!!! That being said, even though I enjoyed this book, in all the ways I’ve already mentioned, there were some elements that being my personal pet peeves (mainly on Nick’s part) discredited their relationship for me, and stole from my enjoyment of the story. Yes, this is a second chance story – and an amazing one at that – , and their relationship is a complex and hurt-filled one, but his reactions and specially the fact that he *SPOILER ALERT* wasn’t celibate during the ten year separation, even though he said he never stopped loving her, while she remained true to their love and wasn’t able to be with anyone else, *END OF SPOILER* really seated badly with me, and from that point on, couple with his attitude and disregard of her feelings, I really didn’t feel his love for Mia, like he professed so many times.

Like I said the storyline and character development is beyond realistic, sadly his feelings  for her weren’t really proven by his actions in my view, therefore detracting from the veracity of their relationship, which was the main focus of the book, hence the unusually and slighty lower rating for Nick and Mia’s story when I normally rate Claudia Connor’s books much higher (because hello, she’s brilliant!)!

So please consider that this is my very subjective take on the story, and don’t let that stop you in any way of reading this book, because the emotional journey and creative storyline are more than worth it on its own!!! I can’t wait to for the next McKinney/Walker sibling’s story!!!!

I’d come to accept the predictable routine of my life until I saw her ass in those riding pants. Constance Montgomery…damn, with her legs spread on the leather of the saddle has my mouth watering and things inside me shift. Seems my program is about to change. All the years of indifference to any female form all come tumbling down. My hard rule to never get involved with a student is about to be broken. With her.

Reed Sawyer is at the top of his game. An elite equestrian trainer with looks to kill and he’s staring straight at me. Only, he’s not my trainer because my parents make all those decisions. I’m tired of being under my parent’s thumb. Maybe it’s time I pushed the envelope a little. And Reed Sawyer looks like just the right wall to start pushing on.

A naïve, sheltered girl. A brooding, perfectionist with years of pent up need. The sparks fly. The walls come down. Hot lessons are learned.

Author’s Note: A hot instructor, a riding crop and that old phrase about a guy being hung like a…Well you get the idea. Jump on for a ride that will have you reaching for a cool Mint Julip and a fresh pair of panties. It’s scorching hot, sweet and filthy romance with instant everything.

Excerpt

I’m supposed to be here to help her, but I can’t help what happens next.  She squeezed my fingers. A gentle tug was all it took.

My mouth nearly crushes hers as I take our first kiss.

Her lips taste innocent as they open, my tongue lighting up with the first flavor of her.  Something rumbles out of me like a pained groan, because it hurts.  This kind of intensity hurts in a spectacular way.

Her tongue answers me with its movement, her own sweet, tiny sounds that make my dick shatter the ceiling of the space available in my pants.  He’s curling in half as he grows, and I hope she doesn’t notice.

If I had my way, I’d hear that tiny moan every second of every day for the rest of my life.  It’s more than beautiful; it calls to me.

It’s lips and soft moans and the soft click of teeth meeting teeth before I break away, my hand grasping possessively around the side of her face.  My thumb rasping back and forth in an attempt to feel as much of her soft skin as it can.  My fingertips digging harder than they should into the back of her neck, bringing my forehead to rest on hers.

“I’m sorry.”  My face is flushed, I’m shaking.  “I shouldn’t have done that.”

My head is throbbing, along with my balls.  They are tight against my body and something inside me is born.  Something that wants her in a way that frightens me.  An obsession explodes and I’m not sure I can tame it enough to keep from hurting her.  I want my cum dripping from her; I want to feel her flesh to flesh from the inside.  I need her vulnerable, available, spread for me to enjoy and make filthy with me.  Never before has a woman ignited this kind of lust, these kinds of thoughts, and frankly I’m scared shitless.

“I’m not sorry,” she murmurs as I desperately try to regain control of the animal she’s created in me.

The air in the room seems to disappear.  My lungs ache but inside my head, I think, who needs oxygen?  I have only one need and she is the only way to satiate that need.

The idea that this innocent beauty and I are sharing similar thoughts is enough to make me nearly cum in my pants.  Drops of liquid are already soaking through the fabric below my waist, and I think I would need another ten layers to hide her effect on me.

The sight of her cheeks rising pink, the way her nipples greet my gaze from under the faded hospital gown, make me want to tear the offending fabric into shreds and have her never be clothed around me again.  Who is this dominant beast?  I’m the ever reserved, commanding, cool leader.  Always in control.

Not now.  If I had my way, I’d slam the furniture against the door of this room and take her right here.  A single word thrums in my head.  It won’t stop as much as I try to push it away.

Mine.  Mine.  Mine.

I fight the urge to crawl on top of her and make her filthy in ways I never imagined before her. But with the taste of her lips, thoughts of my cum inside her are fighting with the civilized parts of me to maintain some control.

I imagine slicing my tongue between her dripping cunt lips for the first time.  It’s one of many things I’ve never done before.  My words growling into her body, saying every filthy word I can think of as I breathe her in and swallow her flavor.

I imagine the subtle differences in the texture of her skin on my tongue, the ripples and folds, the hard nub where I want to draw her between my lips and consume the very essence of her.  I want to make love to her with my mouth for hours.

I love Dani Wyatt’s books, but this little treat stole my heart! Even though it’s a shorter read, we get all the goodness and development of a full length novel, since it has all these wonderful elements that draw and enrapture us into the couple’s story!

Reed is, so far, and without a shadow of a doubt my favorite of Dani’s delicious heroes! Totally swoon-worthy (thought after thought of pure gold), alpha and with a priceless heart! Oh, Reed… <3

Chapter 1

Ashlyn

“Hey, Mom,” I greet, tucking my phone between my ear and shoulder as I shove another dress and matching heels into my suitcase. I smile while I do, because Dillon will likely flip his lid when he sees my choices in attire for the weekend, but there is not one damn thing he can do about it since we won’t be in the office. So technically, his stupid rules don’t apply.

“Are you all packed?”

“Almost,” I sigh, looking at the clock and realizing I only have ten minutes to finish before my cab is set to arrive. I wasn’t planning on going to Vegas for the dental convention, but Dillon insisted he needed me with him, and like an idiot, I agreed.

“Is Dillon picking you up?”

“No, I’m meeting him there. His flight left a couple hours ago.”

“Oh.” She lets out a defeated breath. “Is it just you and him going?”

“I hope so. I swear if the Wicked Witch shows up, I’ll sell her on the strip to the highest bidder, or pay someone to take her out to the desert and drop her off,” I grumble, digging under my bed for my tickler—just in case of an emergency.

“Call me if you need an alibi.” She laughs, and I smile, shaking my head, because I know she’s not lying; she would find a way to be my alibi if something happened.

“I’ll call,” I mutter, heading to the bathroom so I can gather my shower supplies.

“Dillon’s so nice,” she says quietly, and I grit my teeth.

Dillon is annoying, bossy, and… fine, he can be nice sometimes. Plus, he’s uber-hot, but I hate him. Okay, I don’t hate him… but I really, really want to.

“How long are you going to be gone for?” she questions, breaking into my internal rant.

“Just four days. My flight gets back Monday night around seven.”

“Promise you’ll call everyday and check in.”

“I’ll call or text,” I agree, grabbing my cosmetics case from under the bathroom cupboard, filling it with all of my makeup.

“Please try and have some fun while you’re there. Make Dillon take you out to a nice dinner or dancing.”

Snorting, I mutter, “Sure, Mom. I love you. I’ll message when I land.”

“Okay, honey, and don’t forget your dad and I leave Monday for Florida and we’ll be gone for three weeks.”

“I haven’t forgotten. Have fun, kiss Grandma and Grandpa, and tell Dad I love him.”

“Will do,” she promises softly before I hang up and shove my cell into my back pocket. Looking at the clock I let out a quiet curse, getting my ass in gear to finish packing so I don’t miss my flight.

~*~*~

Dragging my bag behind me toward the reception desk, I’m stunned by how many people are here wearing nametags stating they’re attending the dental convention. Dillon mentioned this weekend is one of the largest gatherings of dentists in the United States, but sheesh, this is crazy. Finally making it to the front of the line, I smile at the cutie behind the desk.

“How can I help you, gorgeous?” he inquires once I’m close, and I set my purse on the counter and pull out my ID, handing it over to him.

“Hi, I have a reservation.” I yawn, covering my mouth while I listen to the sound of slot machines going off in the distance. I love the slots—or penny slots to be exact, since I’m too chicken to play the real ones.

“I’m sorry, but there is no reservation under your name. Are you sure you’re staying with us?” he asks, handing me back my ID, and I frown.

“I’m positive. It may be under my boss’ name, Dillon Keck. He made the reservations,” I say, and he starts to type again then smiles.

“Got it. I see here that Mr. Keck has already checked in and requested we give you your own key to the suite upon arrival.”

“Uh… what?” I blurt, feeling something close to dread fill my stomach. “Are you saying he’s staying in that room too?”

“Yes, it’s a suite with two kings.”

“I don’t care how many kings are in the room. It’s one room. Right?” I panic, leaning half over the counter, trying to see his computer screen. “Please tell me you have another room available?”

“I’m sorry, but we’re completely booked. This is one of our busiest weekends of the year.”

“Of course it is.” I shake my head. “Can you recommend another hotel nearby?”

“Sorry, but I really doubt anywhere else has an opening.”

“Oh man… oh man,” I breathe, squeezing my eyes closed. “It’s not a big deal. You can share a room with him. You’re an adult, and it’s not like you even like him, right?” I whisper, balling my hands into fists.

“Um, so do you want me to get you your key?” Opening my eyes, I nod once and his face softens. “Call down and check. Sometimes we have people call off their reservations last minute. You never know. Something might open up between tonight and tomorrow.”

“Sure, I’ll call,” I agree, wondering what the hell I did to deserve this kind of karma as I wait there for the room key.

Standing in the hall outside the door to our room ten minutes later, I pause with my key card in my hand, not sure if I should knock or just go in. I seriously cannot believe Dillon booked us in a room together. Actually, I can believe it, because I think he gets off on annoying me.

“Screw it. It’s my room too,” I mutter to myself, shoving the key into the card reader, watching the light turn green. Pushing down on the handle, I turn, using my shoulder to hold the door open while I drag my suitcase into the room, fighting with its weight as the door closes, trapping it half way through.

“Shit!”

Turning my head, I look over my shoulder and almost fall on my ass when my eyes find Dillon standing in the middle of the room, completely naked, with a pair of boxers in his hand. His once long hair now short and wet, and a tattoo I didn’t know he had along his muscled ribs on his side.

“Oh, my God,” I breathe, turning quickly while attempting to shove my suitcase back out of the room. I totally did not need to know Dillon looks hotter without clothes than what my mind had made up, and believe me—my mind had unfortunately tormented me with thoughts of him naked many times.

“Christ, you’re a mess,” is muttered from behind me while a very strong arm wraps around my waist, lifting me off my feet, and my suitcase is tugged from my grasp. Before I know it, my suitcase and I are both in the room and the door closes with a soft hiss, trapping me inside.

“Please tell me you’re not still naked,” I whimper, squeezing my eyes closed, feeling his arm release me and his heat leave my back.

“I’m not naked.”

Opening my eyes, I close them again when I see he’s only got on a pair of form-fitting black boxers and nothing else. “Put some clothes on.”

“Don’t tell me you’ve never seen a naked man before.” He chuckles, and the sound of his laughter makes my teeth grind and my hands drop to my sides.

“I don’t want to see you naked.” I glare at him while he buttons up a pair of dark slacks that fit him perfectly.

“You could have avoided all of this if you had knocked.”

“Really?” I raise a brow. “You could have ‘avoided all this,’” I make air quotes, “and gotten me a separate room.”

“They messed up the reservation.” He shrugs like it’s no big deal, and I feel my eyes narrow further.

“You should have called to tell me that, so I could have—”

“You would have avoided coming,” he cuts me off. “If you knew we were sharing a room, you would have found an excuse, and I need you with me this weekend.”

“Whatever,” I grumble, knowing he’s right. I would have canceled the trip if I knew we were sharing a room, even knowing that being here is a great way to build connections with other dentists. Especially, if I want to open my own practice in the future. “We need to set a few ground rules.” I cross my arms over my chest while I watch him walk across the room toward the bed near the window.

“Later.” He picks up a dark-blue, almost black, dress shirt and starts to put it on, which is unfortunate, because now that I’ve seen him shirtless, I’m thinking he should never cover up again.

“No, now,” I growl, annoyed with myself for being attracted to the dick.

“Later.” He holds my glare. “Right now, you need to get dressed. We have reservations in forty minutes.” He takes a seat on the side of the bed and starts to put on his shoes.

“What?” I look at the clock on the wall. It’s after seven at night and I’m exhausted. All I want to do is climb into bed, order room service, and watch some bad TV.

“We have a reservation in forty minutes,” he repeats, then stands. “The restaurant is twenty minutes away, so you have twenty minutes to get ready, unless you want to wear that.” He motions to my sweats, flip-flops, and hoodie. “I suggest you change.”

“I hate you.”

“So you say,” he says, just barely loud enough for me to hear, as he goes to the dresser, picking up his watch and putting it on.

“What did I do to deserve this?” I shake my head, pulling out my hair tie and running my fingers through my knotted hair.

“You may want to hurry.”

Holding his eyes for a minute, I give up my glare then drag my suitcase to the middle of the room and unzip it. After pulling out one of my favorite “going out” outfits along with my makeup bag, I go to the bathroom and try to slam the door closed, but it’s on one of those thingies that prevents me from doing that, which pisses me off even more.

“Stupid door. Stupid dick,” I mutter once the door is closed, then get to work on making myself look halfway decent.

Twenty minutes later, I look at my refection and lean forward, putting my face an inch from the mirror, and use my dark-red lipstick for the final touch on my dramatic makeup look. Since I didn’t have time to do anything with my hair, I brushed it out and put it up in a bun on top of my head then pulled out a few pieces to frame my face. Looking at my now blonde hair, I smile. I wasn’t sure I would like having blonde hair but Kim insisted it would look great on me, and she wasn’t wrong. Standing back, I place my hands on my hips and take myself in. My black sleeveless-top, with triangles cut out of the center of the chest and sides, is sexy but classy, and my red skin-tight pencil skirt, with its slit up the thigh, shows off just enough skin to draw attention while leaving everything to the imagination.

Slipping on my black, pointed-toe, four-inch pumps, I open the door to the bathroom, and mutter toward where I know Dillon is sitting, “Let me just change my purse and we can go.”

“You’re not wearing that.”

“Pardon?” I ask, pausing in my squatted position in front of my open suitcase to look at him.

“You’re not wearing that outfit. Go change.”

“I’m not changing.” I stand, moving to the desk so I can transfer what I need from my bag to my clutch. Hearing no reply, my eyes move to where he’s sitting on the edge of the bed, and I feel my skin warm up and butterflies take off in my stomach as our eyes lock and his darken.

Licking my lips that have suddenly gone dry, his eyes drop to my mouth and his jaw clenches. “I’ll meet you downstairs.” He stands abruptly and moves past me out the room quickly, letting the door close behind him with a swoosh without another word.

“What the fuck was that?” I ask the door, gaining no reply—not that I need one. I know exactly what that was; I just have no idea what to do with it. Dillon has always acted professional with me. There has never been a time that I’ve seen him look at me like he’s interested, but the look in his eyes a moment ago was primal and not one an engaged man should give another woman, or a boss should give his employee, ever.

Shaking off the strange feeling in the pit of my stomach, I finish changing out my bag then leave the room and make my way through the casino and into the lobby. Not finding Dillon inside, I head outside to the area the cabs and limos pick up and drop off, and spot him standing with a group of people. I’m not surprised he’s surrounded by a gaggle of women and a couple of men. He tends to draw attention wherever he goes, and it’s something else that annoys me. I hate being the center of attention, and I don’t really like people who need it to feel important. Needing a minute to get my head together, I stop a few feet away and tuck my clutch under my arm.

“Where you going, gorgeous? ‘Cause wherever it is, I’m there,” a drunk guy, who can’t be much older than twenty-one, slurs, stumbling up to me. His clothes are rumpled, his hair in disarray, and if he wasn’t such a mess, he’d be cute. But sadly, sloppy drunk works for no one.

Ignoring him, I untuck my purse, open it, and pull out my cell phone, knowing better than to engage with men like him in his current state.

“So you’re to good for me?” he slurs, snatching my cell out of my hand, and my eyes fly up.

“Give me my phone,” I say evenly, holding out my hand, and his eyes travel the length of me and his face scrunches up.

“Ho here thinks she’s too good for me.”

“Mike, come on. Give her the phone and let’s go,” someone says off to the side, but I keep my eyes on Mike, with my palm out toward him. My dad insisted I take martial arts with Jax when I was little. I hated it; I wanted to be a ballerina, not a ninja, but he was adamant about me being able to protect myself. Over the years, the skills I learned back then have come in handy, like now, when all I really want to do is kick the crap out of Mike but know better. One of the first things I was forced to learn was control, to never lose my temper. The second thing I learned was to keep my eyes on my enemy at all times. I was never really good at either, but I still got a black belt in the end.

“Mike,” I say softly, taking a step toward him. “I’m going to ask you nicely, once, to give me my phone. If you don’t, I swear to God I will unleash the Kraken, kick your ass in front of your friends, and send you home crying to your mother.”

Laughing, he looks around then his eyes widen as they move behind me. I really, really want to know what he’s looking at, but I refuse to turn my head and give in.

“Give her the phone.” The deep rumble of Dillon’s voice sends a chill down my spine. I’ve only heard him pissed a few times, and I know he’s pissed right now without even looking at him.

“I… I… w-was just playin’ man,” Mike stutters out, tossing my phone toward me. Missing my hands and causing my phone to crash to the ground, and my nostrils to flare as it shatters at my feet.

“Oh, shit. Oh, Christ. I’m sorry.” He drops to his knees and begins gathering the pieces of what used to be my phone then tries to get up, but falls face forward into my crotch, causing me to stumble back.

“I can’t believe this shit,” Dillon grumbles, catching me before I fall, then tugs me out of the way as Mike’s friends decide to finally step in and pick him up from the ground. “You had to wear that outfit.”

“You can not be serious right now?” I hiss, swinging my head back and finding him glaring down at me.

“Deadly.”

“Let me go.” I try to get free, but his hand on my waist tightens as his eyes leave mine. Swinging my head in the other direction, I find one of Mike’s friends standing a few feet away with my phone, looking anywhere but at us, and Mike off to the side, puking in a trashcan.

“Let me go,” I repeat, and his arm tightens for a moment before he finally lets me loose. I really want to scream or throw a fit, but instead, I calmly take my clutch and open it, holding it out toward the guy and letting him dump the now useless pieces inside. “You need to get him some Gatorade and toast,” I tell him, nodding toward Mike.

“Um, yeah sure. Than…” his words taper off, and the smile that was forming on his lips slides away as he looks over my shoulder. Rolling my eyes, I watch him turn quickly and go to Mike to help carry him away, feeling Dillon get close once more.

“Limo’s waiting,” he mutters, placing his hand against my lower back, making me tense.

“I’m not going.” I try to step away, but his hand slides around my waist, bringing my side into his middle.

“You are.”

“I’m not.”

“You are,” he growls, leaning forward, close… way too close.

“Fine, you want me there? I’ll go, but just so you know, I plan on getting completely wasted, so you have just become my chaperone for the evening.”

“You’re not getting drunk.”

“Wasted, not drunk. And you better make sure I don’t do anything stupid.” I pat his chest, ignoring his flashing eyes. With that, I step out of his grasp and start toward the line of limos then turn to look over my shoulder at him, realizing I have no clue which one to go to.

Smirking, he crosses his arms over his chest and raises a brow. “What’s wrong, blondie? Confused?” His mocking tone and the look of triumph in his eyes does it. I turn on my heels and head to one of the limos with the driver standing outside leaning against it. The moment the driver spots me coming in his direction, his back leaves the car and his eyes rake over me, making my teeth snap together.

“Can I help you, Miss?”

“Ashlyn Mayson, get your ass back here,” Dillon snarls behind me, making my palm itch to smack him.

“I’m sorry, pumpkin. I thought you said this was our limo.” I fake pout, turning to look at him and tossing my head to the side for good measure.

“Christ, you drive me fucking insane.” He walks to where I’m standing, tagging my hand, and then starts to drag me with him, grumbling under his breath.

“You know all I want in this whole wide world is to make you happy, pumpernickel,” I whine, batting my lashes while watching his jaw tic.

Leading me toward another limo with a driver holding the back door open, he growls, “Behave.”

“I swear I’ll be your good girl from now on if you don’t spank me,” I stage-whisper, and his hand spasms in mine as a smirk forms on his lips.

“You don’t behave, I’ll bend you over and tan your ass right here.” His words ring through my ears, making my insides liquid, and then I hear the sound of a male chuckle as I’m gently forced into the back seat of the dark limo before I can reply.

“You’re such a jerk,” I hiss, adjusting my skirt as I move across the leather seats.

“You started the show we put on. I just ended it,” he mutters, sitting down across from me and unbuttoning his suit jacket.

“You started it with the whole ‘blondie’ thing.” I cross my arms over my chest and glare at him.

“Can we not do this tonight? Can we get along for one damn evening?”

“You tell me. I’m not the one who’s bossy and annoying all the damn time.”

“No, you’re just crazy.”

“Crazy?” I snort, and his lips twitch ever so slightly. “I’m not crazy.”

“Babe, you told that kid you were going to unleash the Kraken on him then went on to tell his friends to get him Gatorade and toast. You’re the definition of crazy.”

He may have a point, but instead of agreeing with him, I turn my head to look out the window and watch the city of Las Vegas slide by.

~*~*~

“Turn it off. Turn it off,” I croon sleepily as my hand sweeps out in the direction of the noise blaring from the alarm, missing it over and over as the beeping continues to torture me.

“Jesus, shut that shit off.” An arm comes from around me, and silence fills the room as my body freezes and my eyes spring open, only to close again when the room spins.

“Oh, God, why are you in my bed?” I hiss, trying to calm my stomach that feels like it’s getting ready to empty.

“You’re in my bed,” Dillon grumbles, sliding his arm around my waist, pulling my ass back into the crook of his thighs.

“Why am I in your bed?” I breathe as bits and pieces from last night flash through my mind, and none of them are good. None of them at all.

“You wanted to cuddle.” He buries his face in my neck then moves his hand up to cup my breast. I know I don’t have any clothes on when I feel the hair from his thighs tickle mine and his finger runs over my nipple. Oh, God. A memory of me telling him we have so much in common while we both got naked for bed fills my mind, and then another one pops in and my hand flies up to my face.

I force my eyes open, trying to focus, and see it there—the small, plain, white-gold band from the memory of him sliding it on my finger.

“We got married?” I shout, pulling his hand from my breast.

“We got married,” he agrees, not sounding upset, but instead, almost proud.

“Oh shit!” I fly out of the bed and trip over our clothes scattered across the floor, feeling him catch me right before I land on my face.

“Ash, calm down.”

“Calm down? Calm down? Are you insane? We got married last night. Married, Dillon. I got married to a man who is engaged to another woman!” I yell, then cover my mouth. “Oh, God, I’m going to hell. I’m so going to hell for this.”

“I’m not engaged,” he says calmly, giving me a shake.

“I know your fiancée!” I screech, attempting to get away from him, only to have him hold me tighter.

“I’m not fucking with Isla. Now stop with the crazy.”

“You’re not with her?” I stop, and he runs a hand through his hair.

“No,” he states, holding my stare, and my body uncoils just slightly.

“Fine, I’m not going to hell.” I move away from him and resume pacing. “We need to find an attorney. I saw loads of advertisements on the strip. We’ll get one and get this taken care of. It’s no big deal. People get married in Vegas everyday then get divorced. We will just be one of the ninety percent,” I ramble while pacing.

“We are not getting an annulment.”

“Annulment, right.” I snap my fingers. “That’s even better. No one has to know about this.”

“Listen to me.” He grabs onto my shoulders, giving me a shake, and my eyes focus on his. “We are not getting an annulment, or divorced. We got married and are staying that way.”

“Oh, God, you were drugged.” I rest my hands against his chest and drop my voice, “Don’t worry. We’ll go to the hospital and they’ll give you something. Once you’re better, this will all be taken care of.”

“Jesus Christ.” He rubs his hands down his face, tilting his head back to look toward the ceiling. “I’m married to a nut.”

“Hey, that’s not nice.” I plant my hands on my hips. His head drops, his eyes scan the length of me, and I realize I’m naked… that we’re both completely naked. “Dillon.” I take a step back when his eyes meet mine, and his arms swing toward me. “What are you doing?” I shriek, sidestepping him, only to stumble onto the bed, where I attempt to roll. But he flips me to my back, his giant body moving between my legs, and his hands pin my wrists to the mattress over my head. Panting, I look up into his beautiful blue eyes.

“We are not getting a divorce,” he snarls, leaning down so his face is mere centimeters from mine.

“Be rational.” I lift my hips and my arms, trying to throw him off. “You’re obviously on—”

Before I can say more, his head descends and his mouth is covering mine, stealing my breath along with my soul. The feel of his lips, the taste of him on my tongue, ignites something deep inside of me, and I kiss him back with everything I am. Ripping my mouth from his, I pant, “Please let me go.”

“No.” The word sounds almost primal, and I lean up, placing my mouth back against his.

“Please, I want to touch you.”

Groaning, his hands release my wrists, and my palms fly to his chest and slide up and over his shoulders, pulling him closer to me as my legs wrap around the back of his thighs. He kisses me again, this time using his tongue and teeth to torture me in the most beautiful way possible.

“How is it possible you taste as good as you look?” he questions, pulling back, but I have no answer for him. He tastes amazing and having him covering me, his hardness pressing against my softness, is making my brain short-circuit. Palming my breast, he slides his thumb over my nipple, causing my hips to jerk forward. Rolling us again, he settles me on top of him, palms both my breasts, and then leans up, pulling my right nipple into his mouth, releasing it with a pop. “When did you get these?” he questions, flicking the tip with his tongue.

“When I was thirteen.” I smile, and he smiles back then moves to my other breast, doing the same, only sucking harder, almost punishing.

“When?” he asks again, and I know he’s asking about my nipple piercings. I got them with my cousin April a few years back. I wanted a piercing, but needed to be able to look professional to the outside world, so I got both my nipples done with simple, almost elegant-looking gold barbells.

“Three years ago,” I breathe as he tweaks the tiny piece of metal.

“Before me.”

“What?” I try to focus, but every time he touches me, my body gets hotter and my focus depletes. Grabbing my hips, he tugs me forward, dragging my wet center along his length.

“Soaked.” He nips my nipple then wraps his hand into the hair at the back of my head, taking control of my movements as he pulls my mouth to his and thrusts his tongue between my lips. Lost in his kiss and the feel of him between my legs, so close to where I need and want him, I squeak when he flips us over and slides down my body, not giving me a chance to think as his mouth covers me.

“Dillon.” My hands move through his hair and my hips lift off the bed, offering myself up to him without thinking about anything but the way his tongue, lips, and teeth feel as he fucks me with his mouth. “Oh, God. Oh, God, I’m going to come,” I pant, feeling my toes curl into the bedding and my hands grip his hair. The touch of his finger rimming just the inside of my entrance sends me over, shouting his name as I go.

Feeling him kiss my inner thigh then my belly, over my breasts then shoulder, I come back to myself lazily.

“Tell me you want me.” Looking into my eyes while his hand moves between my legs and his fingers slide though my folds, I know I’ll give him anything. “Tell me you want me as badly as I want you.”

“I want you,” I hiss, feeling the very large head of his cock at my entrance, and then watch his eyes drop between us before my eyes do the same, and I know I need to tell him. “I—”

Oh, God, too late… way too late. I bite my lip as he fills me, stretching me.

“Tight, so goddamn tight.” He pushes in farther and his jaw clenches.

“Hold on. Please, hold on,” I breathe, and his body stills above me as his eyes search mine.

“What’s wrong?”

“I just need a minute.” I squeeze my eyes closed, feeling like an idiot.

“Baby.” His fingers slide along my jaw and cheekbone, into my hair. “Do you want to stop?” he asks gently, making tears sting my nose.

“God, no.” He feels good, so good. But he’s huge, way bigger than any of my toys. “You’re just big. So big.” I wiggle my hips and he hisses out a breath, grabbing my waist.

“Don’t say that shit when I’m inside of you,” he groans, dropping his forehead to mine.

“I have to tell you something, but please don’t be mad.”

“Christ, what now?” He pulls back, gritting his teeth.

“Stop being a jerk and let me talk.” I smack his shoulder and he looks down at me, thrusting in another inch.

“Never mind. I don’t want to know.”

“What?” I moan, wrapping my legs around his hips as he slides in a little more.

“If it’s going to piss me off, I don’t want to know.” He slides out then back in, and my back arches off the bed as his thick cock fills every inch of me.

“You’re such a dick!” I cry out as he tosses my leg over his shoulder, changing the angle of his thrust.

“I don’t give a fuck about that either.” He drops his mouth, covering mine and stealing my reply—not that I have time to think about that as his mouth leisurely travels down my neck to my breast, which he pulls and sucks until I’m once again shouting his name and hearing mine groaned from his lips as we both come.

WOW!!! Or should I say, BOOM??!! Talk about falling in love with an author all over again!!!

Until Ashlyn is utter PERFECTION!!! It totally took me to the classic and undeniable addictive early books of Aurora Rose Reynolds, and that made her one of my all favorite authors. And you know what they say of the classics, and here it proves it, because we have that, but taken with a whole new level of appetizingly delicious sexiness by the name of Dillon! Holy crap, was this man P.E.R.F.E.C.T.!!!

“I want all of you. Your mind, your soul, and most importantly your heart. I want every breath you take to be for me. I want to imprint myself into your skin so you’ll crave me like a drug and never want to be without me.”

Without giving too much away, because you really NEED to read this book, I was so incredibly and pleasantly surprised by this man (considering his interaction in the previous books of the series), whom unveiled being a true ARR’s Alpha, I still loved every word and moment these two lived and every sassy moment from Ashlyn in true Aurora’s fashion, as did every single snippet I got from our much beloved characters from the Mason family circle, but I may have been too busy drooling for Dillon, so really, you can’t miss this!!! Aurora Rose Reynolds gave us the perfect closure to this reading year, making it really end up with a BOOM!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Until now. Now, she’s mine. It’s my ring sitting on her finger. It’s me who she’s in love with, and it’s my cock that makes her breath catch every time I enter her. Men can look and fantasize all they want, but none of them will ever experience firsthand what it feels like to have her. None of them will ever know what it feels like to have her love, because every part of her is mine.

Synopsis

USA TODAY bestselling author Alexa Riley’s first full-length novel shows just what happens when a strong, possessive man finds the woman of his dreams.

I’ll never forget the way she looked, so confident and sure of herself. I watched her from a distance. She wasn’t ready for me yet. I didn’t approach her and I didn’t disturb her, but I never once took my eyes off her.

Mallory Sullivan is ready to start her new life. After graduating at the top of her class, she’s landed one of the most coveted internships in the United States. Hard work and determination have gotten her to this moment of living the life she only dreamed of while growing up in foster care.

From the start, I knew that she would be my greatest achievement, so the day I let her go, I set down a path for her. A path to me.

She never expected Oz to be the greatest culmination of those dreams. But sometimes fate determines who you fall in love with. Who makes you lose control. Who owns your soul.

And then you realize it wasn’t fate at all…

I’ve wanted to care for and protect her since the first moment I saw her. I’ve constructed everything in our lives so that at the perfect moment, I could have her, could give her the life she deserves.

The time has come.

PREFACE
Miles

I’ve watched her since the beginning.
It’s funny, but I don’t really remember much before her. It’s as if I could split my life into two halves. Before her and after. I remember my life with my parents, and I remember getting into college, but it’s all gray before her. Until the day I saw her, there was no color. But once my eyes landed on her for the first time, it was like when Dorothy landed in Oz and she opened the door. The world went Technicolor, and she was my very own Glinda the Good Witch.
I was twenty-two years old the first time I saw her. She was seventeen and competing in a state-level high school math competition.
Yale University asked me to represent them as a student judge, and I nearly declined. The state of Connecticut is small but houses one of the greatest Ivy League colleges in the country. One that makes becoming a standout almost impossible. I was among the top one percent in my class as a senior at Yale, with a major in statistics.
The only reason I’d accepted the invitation was to play a part. Many expected me to follow in the footsteps of my father, and I wanted them to believe that, but my end goal was a little different than anyone knew. I was on the path of revenge, but playing a part would help me on that path. Rubbing shoulders with the same men my father did, even if it left a bitter taste in my mouth.
Agreeing to judge the competition was life-changing. The bitter taste in my mouth altered that day. A sweetness took over. I wanted it. Needed it.
I’ll never forget the way she looked, so confident and sure of herself. I watched her from a distance, like you would a lioness in the wild. I didn’t approach her and I didn’t disturb her, but I never once took my eyes off her.
I found out later she was being sponsored by her high school so that she could attend the competition. She had no family and was being raised in a group foster home, so her school funded the trip. She was smart, and they wanted to see her succeed, which she did.
I saw so much in her as she competed. She knew all the answers and was absolutely sure each time. She trusted her instincts, and they didn’t let her down. There was so much potential in her just waiting to be unleashed. I wanted to sit down and have her tell me everything, anything, as long as she talked to me.
She swept the competition and won first place in her division. I was strangely proud of her.
When she walked out of the hotel ballroom after the competition was over, I let her go. It was the hardest thing I’d ever had to do. But I knew that if I went after her too soon, or too fast, she would run. Not only was she too young for me, but something about her told me she was the kind of woman who came along once in ten thousand lifetimes.
This wasn’t to be rushed. It was to be savored.
I may hate my father, but I’ve learned from his mistakes. I’m going to use those mistakes for my own advantage. He’s smart but sloppy at the same time and it’s been showing. But I know if you want something, you work hard for it, plan out all the details to make it yours.
From the beginning, I knew that she would be my greatest achievement, so the day I let her go, I set down a path for her.
A path to me.
No one knows it’s been me behind the curtain, pulling the strings. I’ve constructed everything in our lives so that at the perfect moment, I could have her.
The time has come.

Goddamn, that smile is dangerous.

Who am I kidding?  He is dangerous.

I do my best to ignore him, but it’s impossible.  The steady brush of his arm against where mine is resting on our shared armrest constantly reminds me how much my body wants his touch.  The scent of his delicious cologne hits my senses, making me want to climb in his lap and rub my face over his chest to get a potent lungful of it.

I can’t even remember the last time I was this horny, which is pathetically sad, since it was probably around the same time I actually got laid.  Years.  I think.  Close to three.  Maybe that’s why I’m a hot mess lately.   I turn my head to study the side of his face and wonder if I can use this situation to my advantage.  I mean, after all, we are in a ‘relationship’ now.

He turns and gives me a questioning arch of his dark brows, but I brush it off in favor of playing Disney Emoji Blitz on my phone.

By the time we had hit cruising altitude, I could hear the other men around me snoring away but not Chance.  He’s fiddling with his phone, completely ignorant of the fact I’m about to start humping his leg.

“Excuse me,” I breathily say, unbuckling my belt and standing to move around him.  I stand there, my head bent slightly because of the overhead, and wait.  He doesn’t move, though.  Instead, he drops his phone to his lap and gives me his complete attention; his eyes even dance a little like he’s finding this whole damn thing funny.  “Excuse me,” I repeat, no longer breathy, and seconds away from coming.

No, that’s a lie.  I’m still breathy and very much seconds away from soaking my panties even more than they already are.

His large hands grab my hips, and he guides me down on his lap with no resistance from my treacherous body.

“Not what I meant,” I say through clenched teeth, trying to sound harsh and offended, but I just sound dazed and turned on.  I wiggle in his hold, trying to get free, but he’s too strong for me.

He leans up in his seat, his chest hitting my back and buries his face in my neck.  I’m sure anyone who saw us would see a loving couple who just can’t keep their hands to themselves.  He’s playing a dangerous game, though, because the second the solid, hard length of him presses against my backside, I forget this is supposed to be a game and squirm a little more.  His teeth nip at my shoulder at the same time his groan hits my ears.

“Stop moving, Wren,” he demands, tightening his fingers on my hips.

“You’re the one who put me on your lap.”  I curl my fingers over the empty seat in front of me and squeeze my eyes shut when I feel him growing harder under me.

“Yeah, because the flight attendant who just walked by had her phone out and pointed right at us.  She’s doing a shit job of making it look like she’s doing something with her paperwork.”  His hand comes off my hip, and he cups my jaw, turning my head to the side just when I was about to look up at where I last saw the attendant, forcing me to shift until all it would take is me throwing one leg over his body to be face-to-face.  “Do not look at her,” he stresses; the sudden movement of twisting my body makes me bounce slightly in his lap, rubbing my legging-clad ass against his erection.  His eyes drop to my mouth where I pull my bottom lip between my teeth and groan.

“Give me a reason not to look,” I dare him.

“You don’t want to go down that road, Wren.  I’ll protect you from the world, but you need to protect yourself from me.”

“No one is asking you to.”

Not even knowing if we’re still being watched, I twist my torso the rest of the way, pulling my legs up until they’re bent at his stomach between us.  Now that I’m facing him completely, I bring my hands up to curl them both around his shoulders before dragging them up to wrap around the corded muscles at the sides of his neck.  His nostrils flare, but he doesn’t stop me.  I give him the chance, but it never comes.  Dropping my head, I press my lips to his.  I explore his lips with small pecks and little licks of my tongue, learning his mouth before pressing more firmly.  He sucks in a breath when I open my mouth and slowly drag the tip of my tongue over his bottom lip.

And then his control snaps.

His hands—still at my hips—lift me effortlessly until my legs are no longer folded between us, but now digging into the hard armrests with my knees pushing into his thighs, my back hitting the seat in front of me.  His mouth opens, and his tongue meets mine, no hesitation whatsoever, as he deepens the kiss.

Our breathing echoes around us, making it sound like everyone on this plane could hear us, but I know it’s just because our faces are so close.  I let out a moan, one that he swallows, that turns into a whine when he pulls back.

“That can’t happen again,” he softly scolds, just as breathless as I am.

What the hell?  I might not have been into this whole fake-boyfriend-slash-bodyguard thing before, but I’ll be damned if I’m not going to take advantage of the situation.  Especially now that I know how alive he makes me feel.  Three years since I had pleasure from anything other than my own hand, and if that kiss is anything to go by, what Chance could make me feel is ten times more powerful than anything I’ve ever felt in my whole life.

I’m not passing that up.

Nope.

No fucking way.

“We’ll see about that.”

 Oh. My. God!!!

What an EPIC beginning Harper Sloan has created for her new series, Loaded Replay!

Before I go in and tell you how amazing this book was, I have to say this one is doing to be hard one to beat! I really seemed written with everything I look forward in my Romance reads! Simply amazing!

For those of you who like me read all of Harper’s work, these two are no strangers. We could see upon reading the Hope Town series that when Chance set his eyes on Wren for the very first time at one of their concerts that something extraordinary would come from these two. And come it did!!! LOL

Wrenlee Davenport has been living a life of fame and success for five years now, but what only her closest family – her brother and bandmates – can see is that she is fast approaching her breaking point. For years she has wanted, craved even, something more. Or better yet someone… Someone who will see behind the well constructed facade of the sex symbol lead singer of one the world’s most famous rock band and want her for who she truly is, for everything she is deep down…

This is our future’s promise of a better life, and even if it’s starting to look like more of a curse than a promise to me, we will die before we give it up.

But for me—I’m probably always going to be that stupid little girl who believes my prince charming will come riding in on his black horse—because really, black horses are so much more badass than white ones—and prove to me that every little jaded piece of my heart is worth loving.
And he will love me for me.
For Wren.

And here enters our dark and handsome hero, Chance. I was already completely hooked on him while reading Unexpected Fate, but now, I’m just as dumbstruck as Wren was! Talk about swoon worthy!!!

From the very first moment he crosses the threshold of the hotel suite, and their eyes connect, any feared and caution about both their pasts is doomed. Their magnetism and attraction is almost palpable and without a doubt reciprocated. 😉

Jesus, when he focuses completely on me, it feels like I’m the only woman left in the world and he’s gone without sex for decades.

Aroused.
I was completely, purely, and deliciously aroused.
To the point a feather could touch my overheated skin and I would probably have an orgasm on the spot. Well, maybe not that bad, but I was close.

Goddamn, that smile is dangerous.
Who am I kidding? He is dangerous.

Truthfully he was just missing the black horse, because he came in guns blazing and immediately took on the role of the protector. A role he seemed born to fill.

Even in his resistance to their obvious attraction (due to the ghosts of his past), he never falter in his role, because she truly became the center of his world. The only thing that mattered.

“You don’t want to go down that road, Wren. I’ll protect you from the world, but you need to protect yourself from me.”

She has fears of her own, of course, but when it comes to Chance, she has no doubt that they are mean to be. She just has to make in realize that, and for that he just needs to open himself up, like she’s doing. After years of closing herself of from relationships (after so many of those having used her for their personal gain), I was happily surprise  with the apparent easiness of her acceptance of felling for Chance. I loved her attitude, her sassiness and her faith – although she had her own doubts at times. But teasing him was half the fun!

“You might think you will, but mark my words, I will have you, and you’re going to love it. Every. Single. Second. If I can put my fears aside to just take this chance and open myself up to your rejection time and time again, then you can do the same and stop letting whatever hurt you before stand in the way of your life.”

I avoided you because I’m absolutely scared out of my mind of the way you make me feel. It’s insane. I haven’t known you long enough to feel this strongly about you. I know next to nothing about you personally, but it doesn’t matter. I feel my body being pulled to yours, and it scares the shit out of me.”

Their hesitation doesn’t last long, and once they give in, it’s full steam ahead!

I absolutely adored how open and sure they were from that point forward. They opened to one another like they never did to another being, and it was a beautiful thing to read. Their fears became just memories, and they started their process of mutually healing one another…

“You’re going to destroy me,” I tell her, trying to reason with her by giving her the truth of my fears.
“We’re going to destroy each other and then put the pieces back together, so there aren’t any more cracks.”

Healing, caring, and a LOT of loving!!! Because with that explosive chemistry, and an alpha male like Chance, how could their sex scenes not be their own level of scorchingness??? And Chance… Holy mother of filthy talkers!!!

“The second I feel your body ripple against my cock, you will be mine, Wrenlee. Even if you ever decide you don’t want me, I’m not sure I’ll grant you that. Especially not after I feel you hug me tight inside your body, sucking my come from my cock. If we’re taking a gamble together, it’s all in, or we fold before the call.”

We get PLENTY of steaminess to go around, that’s for sure! And this pervy reader LOVED every second of it!!!

Another standout is the incredible relationship that Wren has with the rest of the guys, – her brother and friends – but specially her bound with her twin brother, Weston. It’s amazing to see their love and support, and he hinted to what an amazing character I’m sure he’ll be. Her rock, her anchor, even if she doesn’t need him as much as she always did. An immeasurable brotherly love…

“And if I fall for this man, the allure of a reward, only to find him not there to catch me?”
My brother’s arm tightens around me. “Then you still won’t hit the ground, little sister, because I will always be here to make sure you never fall far.”

And I can’t not mention the rest of the bandmates, Luke and Jamison, specially the former, because, OMG, was that guy a hoot!!!! Really, what an awesome character! He sure gave us some ROFL moments here!

“We can talk tonight,” I concede.
“Do you mean talk to him with your south mouth?” Jamison butts in.

JADED HEARTS really was a spectacular beginning for the series, and these characters were splendidly thought out and realistically portrayed – you can see by the incredible (and numerous, even if reduced multiple times, lol) quotes I posted. So amazing, it was hard to choose from! The storyline itself couldn’t have been more well constructed. Naturally, emotionally and fluidly, the events develop in a way that you feel that you are living them with the characters, and that for me is perfect writing perfection on Harper’s part. It’s exactly what I hope to find in each story I dive in, and here it surpassed expectation. The only thing I missed, being the total ‘epilogue – whore’ that I am, was a more extended epilogue with a deeper look into their future. I know we’ll get that for sure in the upcoming books, but I’m a greedy reader, so I wanted it now! Can’t wait to see what Harper Sloan brings us next with that special and quirky character of Jamison! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

We’re cut from the same cloth, honey. Both of us wear the scars of our jaded past, but if you feel even a little bit like I do for you, then you’ve felt the healing touch of them disappearing since the moment our bodies first touched. I need what you give me more than my next breath. That isn’t something anyone would be able to give up. People fight a lifetime to find this, and I had almost lost faith that I would ever have this.”

I feel like my heart—the one thing that keeps me alive—doesn’t even beat inside my own chest anymore, not when Wren has taken its place as my most vital organ.

My knight in tarnished armor had finally found his broken princess, high in her jaded tour—changing both of our lives for eternity.
This is the evolution of two jaded hearts seeing the beauty of life again.
This is the creation of two broken souls, healing solidly, connected as one.
This is the foundation of an unbreakable love.
This is the clarity of our forever love.

Synopsis

Everly Grayson is sick of her small life in a small town. She dreams of bigger things, so when an opportunity for something bigger comes along, she grabs it with both hands. Now she’s on her way to a sprawling country estate in rural England to work as an au pair.

However, her new adventure loses some of its shine when she finds out her new boss, wealthy single dad Mason Kingsley, is a surly and foul-tempered ogre. Yet despite his temperament, he consumes the air in her lungs and dominates her every waking thought. Especially when she sees him being as sweet as candy to his five-year-old daughter.

Little does she know that he is just as affected by her. While his attraction to her drives him to distraction, he wants more than just her body. Much more.

This holiday season, prepare to lose more than your Christmas stockings and light up brighter than your tree when you fall in love with Mason Kingsley.

Excerpt

A friendly-looking guy, probably a few years older than Mason, thrust a hand at me. “Hi, I’m Michael.”
“Hi.” I smiled kindly. “I’m Everly.”
“Pretty name. That an American accent I hear?”
   “It is.”
“What brought you here of all places? Pretty girl like you should be drinking cosmos in London.” He leaned in closer and took a sip of his beer, eyes trained on my lips.
I felt Mason shift closer to me. His low voice was still deep in conversation with Toby, but his body clearly sensed something was up.
“I’m here for a job actually. Only for a few months.” I turned back to my pint and took a sip, wishing Mason would cut in and save me from any more probing questions.
“Well, there isn’t much to see, but if you ever need a friend, let me give you my number—”
“Everly, can I have a word?” Mason butted in, looping his hand at my elbow and pulling him against his chest.
My heart dropped instantly and my knees went weak as I felt every hard inch of his solid body behind me. Jesus, what was he doing and why did I like this?
“Sure,” I whispered, smiling at the stranger before Mason shuttled me away from the bar and down a short corridor.
“Bloody tosser.” He growled, shoving through a door and pulling me in behind him. Flicking on the light, he spun me, hands caging me against the wooden panels.
“What’s wrong?” I asked, chest heaving. My every single breath was consumed with him. His scent, the primal, beast-like energy radiating from him. Everything about him turned me on.
“I don’t like his eyes on you.” His hands were at my waist, sliding over the curve of my ass. His fingers found the hem of my dress, inching it up my thighs to land at the curve of my ass. “I don’t like him looking at what’s mine.”
“Mason, I don’t think he was—”
“Don’t tell me what he was thinking. I know men, and I’ve known that one longer than I’ve known just about anyone. He wants you.” His teeth edged the shell of my ear.
“So what if he does?” I offered lamely.
“You made me cum in my trousers, Everly. I’ve never done that before. I love you shuddering beneath me. My lips on every inch of your skin…feeling you so deeply it shatters your soul. That makes you mine. Do you need me to remind you why, kitten?”
Mason’s fingers hooked in my panties and pulled them just down my thighs.
“Please…” I whispered, my hands wrapping around his neck.
“My sweet little pussy cat is soaked.” His fingers ran through my slit and sent me arching up onto my tiptoes.
“I’m always wet around you,” I confessed, unable to stop the words.
“I know, I love it.” He pushed his thumb into his mouth, sucking off my arousal before his grin tipped up. “Show me how you touch yourself.”
I waited breathlessly, hardly comprehending his words.
“Do it, Everly. Touch that pretty pussy.” He guided my hand between my thighs, groaning when my fingertips made contact with the slick skin. “That’s it, sweetheart.”
I heard the swift sound of his zipper, then I watched, riveted, as he pulled his thick erection from his pants. Fisting it at the root, he ran his hand in slow strokes up to the tip and back down again.
   “Oh my god.”
“That’s it, kitten. Let him hear you now.”

Wow…

Prepare your ovaries, because seeing  Mason with that little angel (SPOILER) that in reality is his niece, but he took care of since she was a baby, so, NO baby mommy, no dead ex/spouse! (end SPOILER) , that is the center of his world, will melt the hardest of hearts!!! And of course those aren’t the only thing that will be melting!!! Lordy, that man was HOT!!! And with an accent!! Everly’s heart -and other parts, lol- stood no chance!!!  <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

“We were made for each other. I knew it the moment you stepped out of that train at the station. It felt like a rugby ball had been thrown to my chest when your eyes met mine. I nearly fucking walked away. I couldn’t take it. Couldn’t get a single word past my lips. All I was thinking was, ‘Finally!. Finally!. Finally I’ve found you!.’”

“You can bet I’ll love you a little more, a little longer, every day. Don’t ever doubt that. Don’t ever doubt my love for you again. Always know that you are loved more than a man has ever loved any woman.”
