Synopsis

He’ll show her how a real man treats a woman…

SABINE

I’ve never known how good it could feel to be taken care of by a man who knew what he was doing.

Until I was with Hugo…

HUGO

I was older than her.

She was innocent, hadn’t experienced all that life had to offer.

I could give her that experience.

Sabine consumed my thoughts, made me desire nothing else but her. No other woman compared to her, and because of that, I haven’t been with a woman for four years, which was also the last time I saw Sabine.

But I was done feeling guilty for what I desired. I wanted Sabine in my life, by my side, and I was about to make that a reality.

I didn’t know if she’d ever been treated the way a female should … but I was going to show her how a real man takes care of a woman.

Warning: If you’re into super short, hot, dirty reads containing a much older hero and younger heroine … keep on reading. This story is guaranteed to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, give you that sweet HEA we all deserve, and make you want to search out an experienced older man for yourself.

Hugo

She’s all I thought about for the last four years.
Since I left after her high school, and eighteenth birthday, celebration, Sabine had been on my mind.
Four. Fucking. Years.
I closed my eyes and pictured her.
I always thought about Sabine.
I could picture her long black hair … strands I wanted to wrap around my hand as I made love to her.
I imagined her blue eyes staring up at me, wide, pleasure-filled, as I thrust into her body.
I could picture my hands, mouth, and tongue moving along her womanly curves.
Four years of me wanting a woman I knew I shouldn’t desire, but whom I couldn’t get out of my head.
She was so much younger than I was, but that wasn’t an issue. The age difference didn’t bother me in the slightest. She was a woman, twenty-one years old, and she was smart, perfect for me. Sabine had always known what she wanted out in life, and she’d excelled at what she put her mind to. I might not have seen her in years, but I knew she had only gotten more determined in that regard. That wasn’t a trait someone just let go of.

I also didn’t care that she was Leo’s—my childhood friend’s—daughter. Maybe I should have, but I didn’t let a complication like that stop me from aching for her in a way that made it hard to think of much else.
It had been four long years since I’d even been intimate with a woman. I just couldn’t bring myself to go there with them, not when the only one I wanted was Sabine.
After all this time, I knew she was the only one I’d ever want, and as experienced in life as I was, I knew this wasn’t a passing desire.
I ran a hand over my face, breathing out wearily.
“Would you like something else to drink, Mr. Alfonso?”
I looked up at the flight attendant and shook my head. “No, thank you, Marcella.” I had three more hours to go before I landed in New York, and another hour drive to get to get to Leo and his wife Annabelle’s house. And by the time I even got to their home, it would be too late to see anyone really.
Getting a hotel would have been a simpler option, but it was out of the question, not when Leo and Annabelle insisted I stay in their guesthouse. I knew better than to argue with either of them.

I should have been here earlier.
I’d missed Sabine’s graduation, and even though I’d known about this event for some time, switching my business obligations around hadn’t been possible. That didn’t stop me from feeling this immense guilt.
I reached into my pocket and pulled out the white leather box. Opening it, I stared down at the diamond tennis bracelet I’d bought for her.
Sabine was the only woman I’d ever given jewelry to, and although it might seem like an innocent gesture, a congratulatory gift for her accomplishments, the necklace, and now this bracelet that I’d give to her, meant a little more to me than she’d ever know.
She meant more to me than she’d ever know.

****

Sabine

It had been four years since I’d seen him.
Four years of me wanting a man who I knew I could never have.
Four years of me comparing every guy I tried to have a relationship with him … Hugo.

I’d told myself I needed to wake up, to realize I could never have a man more than twice my age and my father’s lifelong friend.
But telling myself what I should and shouldn’t want was a lot harder to accomplish when what I wanted was unattainable, yet still within my reach.
I stared across the table at my parents. We’d finished throwing a small dinner party in celebration of me graduating college and getting my bachelor’s degree, and now it was just the three of us. I should be focusing on graduate school, getting my Master’s in education, but knowing Hugo was coming in tonight was all I could think of.
Hugo Romanov.
Just thinking his name had my skin prickling with awareness, had every part of me speeding up. Adrenaline rushing through my body gave me this reaction.
“He’ll be here sometime tonight, although I’m not sure what time.” I looked at my father. He leaned back in the dining room chair and lifted his wine glass to his lips. He looked over at my mother, who also had a wine glass in front of her.
“It’s been what, four years since he was last in the States?” my mother asked.

My father nodded. “Yes, for Sabine’s high school graduation. Although he came back about a year ago on business, he couldn’t take the extra time to fly out to see us.”
My heart sped up knowing he’d been here, probably states away, yet still closer than when he was in Europe.
“I bet you’re excited to see Hugo again,” my mother said and took a sip of her wine, looking over the rim at me.
I shrugged, not about to show how nervous I was, or how much anticipation thrummed through me.
We’d finished off a bottle of wine between the three of us, and the second bottle was already half empty. I reached out and ran my finger along the base of my glass. “It’s been a long time,” I replied softly, thinking about the last time I’d seen him. I remembered vividly the way he smelled of dark and delicious cologne. But he’d also smelled of aged books and experience, and it was such a heady, intoxicating aroma. On instinct, I lifted my hand and touched the rose gold feather necklace he’d given me. It had been a present from Hugo for my accomplishment on graduating high school, but also making valedictorian.
I’d worn it every day since receiving it.
“You two always had this special bond.”

I looked up at my father after he spoke. “Not really.” He might have been more of a presence in my life when I was younger, and he lived in the States, but I’d never say we’d been close.
“Of course you did. Hugo would spend hours with you at the kitchen table teaching you Russian. Remember?”
I did, vividly. Our last lesson had been when I was seventeen years old, and he’d come to visit after being away on business in Russia.
“That’s because Dad wanted him to make me more ’rounded.’” I smiled at my dad. He’d been teasing when he’d made the suggestion I start learning a language, but Hugo had taken it seriously. For the next two years, from the age of fifteen to seventeen, whenever Hugo was in town, he’d spend hours with me, teaching me his native language—one of the four he spoke fluently.
The truth was I could only speak a handful of phrases of Russian, mainly because I wasn’t able to concentrate when he was near.
But I’d tried to come to the realization that my personal reality did not include Hugo in it.
And even after all these years, it was still hard to make that sink in.

YAY, R. Holmes second book is finally here!!!
Omg, I’ve been stalking the author since I’ve read Scorched, which I absolutely adored – if you haven’t read it yet, go get it now! – so when I got this treat on my e-reader I devoured it like a starving woman!
Off Season is the perfect feel-good, low angst, short and smutty read! I love how Caston transformed right before our eyes from a playboy player into a true loving family man, and fell in love with him, right along with Eryn. Eryn was absolutely amazing, a strong single mother, knows how to protect herself from the types of ‘player’, but after seeing that Caston is much more than he first appeared to be, she starts to let go of her hang ups and welcome him into their lives, because come on, who could resist seeing the way Caston treated her little boy?!
It was a beautiful and sexy romance story, in which the author proved yet again how amazingly she writes, creates and develops these characters that even in a short story, like this, we get deeply involved and our feelings reflect what they’re feeling. That is a proof of some gifted writing!
My only wish was that it would have been a bit longer, and with an epilogue that gave us a look further into their future! I’m greedy like that, because I wanted even more Caston and Eryn!!! <3 <3 <3 <3

Nothing has ever felt so good in my life. Nothing. Not a homerun. Not winning any championship. I’d give up baseball tomorrow if it meant I got to spend the next thirty years with this perfect angel.

Oh, Lordy…
This was some seriously kinky read!!! Super taboo (first time I read this trope in all my Smutty literary travels, lol) but handled without much drama, and executed perfectly. For some more sensitive readers the religious aspect may bother you, but this is fictional smut, so to me, personally, the priest situation didn’t bother me at all. Actually I think it’s something that can happen a lot these, the questioning of our vocation/call.
Ok, now we’re getting to seriously for this smutty, short and über kinky read!!! LOL
Repent is completely safe, and (SPOILER AHEAD) both MCs being virgin, so each other’s one and only, (SPOILER END), doesn’t get much safer than that. 😉
It’s a delicious naughty book, not for the faint of heart, so if you intent to read it – if you’re as Percy as I, I’m sure you will – be prepared for some scorching hot sexcapades, in the most forbidden of places, a huge amount of dirty talk (who knew a priest could have such a filthy mouth on him?!), and a beautiful HEA!

Synopsis

Emma Chase, New York Times bestselling author of the Tangled Series & Legal Briefs Series, returns with the first of three sizzling standalone books about a family of racy, irresistible Royals.

Nicholas Arthur Frederick Edward Pembrook, Crowned Prince of Wessco, aka “His Royal Hotness”, is wickedly charming, devastatingly handsome, and unabashedly arrogant—hard not to be when people are constantly bowing down to you.

Then, one snowy night in Manhattan, the prince meets a dark haired beauty who doesn’t bow down. Instead, she throws a pie in his face.

Nicholas wants to find out if she tastes as good as her pie, and this heir apparent is used to getting what he wants.

***

Dating a prince isn’t what waitress Olivia Hammond ever imagined it would be.

There’s a disapproving queen, a wildly inappropriate spare heir, relentless paparazzi, and brutal public scrutiny. While they’ve traded in horse drawn carriages for Rolls Royces and haven’t chopped anyone’s head off lately—the royals are far from accepting of this commoner.

But to Olivia—Nicholas is worth it.

***

Nicholas grew up with the whole world watching, and now Marriage Watch is in full force. In the end, Nicholas has to decide who he is, but more importantly, who he wants to be: a King… or the man who gets to love Olivia forever.

The next week is blissfully uneventful. I address Palace business during the day, and spend my nights with Olivia—which are so much more than blissful.

While I work, she relaxes like I want her to. She walks the grounds and has found a friend in Franny. They’ve had lunch together a few times, which doesn’t exactly thrill me, but at the very least, I know she’s safe with Simon’s wife.

Franny, and her forked tongue, will protect Olivia from the Lucy-types looking to wound her with their half-truths.

On the rare occasions my brother is sober, he becomes increasingly agitated—like he’s unable to sit still, to stand his own company, or any sound that resembles silence. Finally, he decides to throw a welcome home party for himself.

I’m in my bathroom preparing for his royal yacht party, just showered with a towel around my hips, scraping the last of the shaving cream off my jaw, when Olivia appears in the doorway.

I thought she was lovely from the first moment I saw her. But here, now—her bare, soft skin wrapped in a pink silk robe, her face glowing with well-rested happiness…she’s magnificent.

“So…do you guys have like a gift shop or a convenience store around here?”

I laugh. “A gift shop?”

She holds up a light blue disposable razor. “I’m out of razors. This one’s so dull I could run it over my tongue without drawing blood.”

“Let’s not test that theory. I like your tongue too much.” I wipe my chin with a towel. “I can have the staff bring one to your room.”

The devil on my shoulder—and the angel too—smack me upside the head. And they whisper a much better idea.

“Or…I could help you out.”

Her brows draw together. “Help me out? I can’t use your razor.”

“No, definitely not—you’d cut yourself to ribbons.” I finger the sharp, heavy straight blade. “What I mean is…I could shave for you.”

Her eyes darken, the way they do when she’s right on the edge—right before she comes. And she moves closer to me.

“Do you…want to do that?”

My gaze drags down, down, over every sumptuous inch of her body.

“Oh, yes.”

Synopsis

July can’t fathom why PD would want to be a cop in this day and age. Wasn’t it enough that he already had a dangerous job with the fire department? Now he has to add another, even more dangerous, job to the equation? With so many cruel people in the world who make a sport out of hurting cops just because of the badge they wear, she has to make him understand. But when he refuses to listen to her reasoning, she feels she has no other choice but to issue an ultimatum: her or the SWAT team.

Dean doesn’t like ultimatums. He’s furious with July for putting him in the awful position of having to choose between a dream and her.
July never believes for a second that he’d choose the SWAT team over her, but she is wrong.

A year later, they’re both still in love with each other, but neither one is willing to budge regardless of their feelings.

July’s feelings for Dean haven’t changed, in fact her love for him has only grown. But seeing him living his life seemingly unaffected by the loss of what they had breaks her heart over and over each time she sees him.

Dean has a good poker face, though. He’s just going through the motions of his life until finally, the smoldering embers of his feelings erupt into a full-on blaze of emotion, burning through everything but his love for July. When the smoke clears, Dean wants to know if they can reignite the fire of their love or is he destined to live his life in a constant state of controlled burn?

Everyone who follows my reviews knows that first, I’m a huge Lani Lynn Vale fan, and second that Kilgore Fire is my favorite series from her, so it comes to no surprise that when this book landed on e-reader, I devoured it like a thirsty woman after going through a desert!

Controlled Burn delivered all the great  elements that make Lani’s writing so addictive and I got deeply involved within PD and July’s story.

PD, whom we know from the previous books, and July have been one year apart after their six month relationship. It may seem that his job was the main reason for they break up, but that was just the very tip of the iceberg of problems that let to that downfall.  I’ll leave the unveil of those reasons because I don’t want to spoiler the ride within the tale, but in my opinion they were both at fault at the time of their break up, just one a bit more than the other, specially given the event on itself.

Their time apart didn’t erase their need for one another, yes, they did everything to pretend the other didn’t impact on their lives, but deep down they never truly let go.

Fuck, who was I kidding? It didn’t matter what I did. She was always there. In my dreams. In my waking moments.
In my fuckin’ head twenty-four goddamn seven.

Although they were aware of their own feelings, there was also too many obstacles to overcome, and amongst them all the hurt they carried for they break up, and that resentment was one of the biggest, and it proved to be the hardest too.

“You said enough a year ago when you broke my heart.”
His eyes softened.
“Maybe,” he said. “But you broke mine, too, when you didn’t even try to fight for me.”

And here enters one of the reasons to which made me enjoy this book less than the remaining of the series, the foundation of Dean’s character. Yes, I was highly anticipating his story, but there were quite a few things that made me dislike the character in this book, and one of those was his very reasoning for being apart from the h. I do prefer better a man that fights for his h, instead of wanting for her to fight for him, like he mentioned more than once. That kind of contradicted his self proclaimed (mostly during sex) dominant alpha vibe in my eyes.

“You didn’t seem to have any problem letting go of me when you walked away. I wanted you to love me for me. All you needed to do was find a way to talk to me about your fears about my job so we could work through them together. Then we can go back to what we had! It’s what we both fucking want!”

I wanted her to fight for me. I wanted her to give me what she gave nobody else in the world. Her heart. Her trust. Her loyalty.
Things that she didn’t do. If I were being honest, things that I hadn’t earned from her either.

So, yeah, he came to realize his mistakes in that matter, but it still didn’t make me forget the attitude, and the big trigger for that was the OW constantly in the picture, Alexa (and his relationship with her). Kudos here to Lani for once again creating such belivable characters that really made me want do go in July’s place and bitch slap the hell of that one – and smack Dean upside the head while I was at it, LOL. All that and some other situations made Dean one of my least favorite of Lani’s heroes, but there were also moments where I really loved him and how he loved July, and it proved LLV’s extraordinary talent, because she created this complex character that created so many emotions in me while reading it. Dean really did do that and more because after and despite the dislike I was rooting for him to get July, and he did prove that this time he wouldn’t let go. For anything or anyone…

“I’ve been living as half a man since I called it quits,” I told her. “I miss you with every breath I take,” I said. “I’m tired of not living. Come back to me. We’ll make it work. I swear.”
“You’re going to break my heart, I can tell,” she countered, devastation clear in her voice.
“And it’s mine to put back together,” I said gruffly. “If I break it, I’ll always fix it. Swear to Christ.”

While Dean created all these reactions from me, July was a steady love from the very beginning. Her love, compassion, strong mind and independence really did steal the show for me, and I couldn’t have loved her more! Lani always creates these fantastic heroines that take an equal role in their strength and sassiness to the heroes, which is rare in romance novels these days, and I love the author even more for that.

But not is drama and romance in this story, because we sure have, as per Lani Lynn Vale fashion, a lot of ROFL moments that had me literally doing that. This kind of sarcastic humor really can’t be beat.

“I’m not going to hell. If anyone’s going to hell, it’s you. You’re a heathen who doesn’t go to church,” he informed me.
I snorted.
“Right. ‘Church’ to you is a meeting with the boys from your club. Church to normal people means actually going into a house of God and worshipping him in a sanctuary, amongst other like-minded believers. You haven’t been to church in well over a decade, if not more,” I turned to Dean.

“A pessimist carries a knife with him in case of an attack.”
“And what would an optimist do?” he teased.
“They would carry a knife in case there was cake,”

These spontaneous moments breath some lightheartedness to the romantic suspense and add a completely new dimension to her books.

At some points, like the OW drama and the book’s climax, specially the outcome, it really reminded me of the author’s Kevlar to my Vest, but maybe it was only in my head, LOL!

I did love the story in general, and specially the female main character as I mentioned above, and Lani keeps on delivering these amazingly developed stories and proving over and over again why she is one of my all time favorite authors.

And the secondary characters… Wow! They deserve a spot of their own, and the way they are introduced and give us a taste of that humor and interactions too, while simultaneous giving us a glimpse into their own characters, is absolutely perfect! They integrate in the story effortlessly in the tale while enticing us with their own, like Wolf, whom I seriously can’t wait to read about!

Lani, can’t December please come any sooner?! Pretty please?!

I felt like the sun had come out for the first time in a year, that’s how dramatic the change in me and my disposition truly was. Where there used to be only rain and cloudy skies, now there was nothing but blue during the day and the moon and stars at night.

“You need to hurry up and come back to me,” I whispered, dropping my forehead to July’s fingers. “Because I’m about to fucking lose it without you. I can’t breathe without you, baby. I won’t survive without you.”

Well, this series keeps getting better and better! Yes, this one a bit different from Alexa Riley’s usual, in my opinion, but every bit as deliciously naughty as ever!

Trace and Addison were as obsessed and as co-dependent to one another as the author’s warning alerted us, but they made that so incredibly endearing in my eyes, that for me, they couldn’t have been the most perfect couple! They truly were made for each other and full on embraced that from the very first look and touch!

This book was one of the sweetest AR’s stories to date, but worry not because all the naughtiness, dirty-talking and scorchingly sexy scenes are still there for all us smut-goodness lovers pleasure!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Synopsis

From New York Times Bestselling author Tracy Wolff and International Bestselling author Katie Graykowski comes a sexy tale of love, laughter and lingerie …

Lyric Wright is an off-beat astrophysicist whose life is falling apart around her. After losing her fiancé to a hula dancing astrologer and losing her dress to an ill-fated leap of faith, she’s sure there’s nowhere for her life to go but up. At least until she sits down on a trans-Pacific flight next to the one man she never wanted to see again—the boy she’d lost her heart and her virginity too back before she’d learned that friendship and football don’t equal true love.

Broken down quarterback Heath Montgomery is on a plane ride to nowhere. Dodging the phone call he’s certain will end his professional football career for good, he might be Texas bound, but he knows there’s nowhere for him to go but down. But that’s before his childhood best friend and confidante plops back into his life wearing nothing but duct tape and a bad attitude. Determined not to lose her again (especially since he isn’t sure why he lost her the first time) and desperate to outrun his own shadowy future, Heath sets out to take Lyric on the ride of her life. Too bad she only dates men who actually know what her butterfly nebula is … and can find it without the help of a star chart.

Add in one passive-aggressive flight attendant with delusions of couture, a cherry red car with a crush on Neil Diamond, an over-protective sister with a black belt in Krav Maga, two parents determined to marry their spinster daughter off to the hometown hero no matter the cost, and a whole lot of lingerie popping up in all the right places at all the wrong times and you’ve got an unforgettable love story that fans of Susan Elizabeth Phillips and Rachel Gibson won’t want to miss!

Excerpt

The second they stepped into Austin Bergstrom Airport, Lyric took off in a knees-together, Gangnam-style trot. He didn’t know where in the hell she was going, but she sure was in a hurry.

“Lyric?” Heath ran after her, his bad knee turning his own run into a shuffling gallop.

“I gotta pee now …” she sing-songed and picked up the pace. “And I can’t put a hold on it.”

“But how are you going to—” He watched her disappear into the women’s bathroom. “—get out of that dress?”

It didn’t take long for him to figure out that she was going to be right back out. She might not have been thinking about the mechanics of stripping off that damn dress, but he’d spent entirely too much of his adult life getting women out of their clothes to know that it was going to be a problem. A serious problem.

He glanced around, saw a small station of plastic flatware a few feet away near the restaurants. He wasn’t sure what good a plastic knife was going to do against tightly wrapped duct tape, but he was willing to give it the old Wrangler try. But when he got up to the institutional silverware holder, the only things left were a bunch of sporks and one sorry looking plastic knife. He grabbed them all, along with a couple of straws and a handful of mayonnaise packets for lubrication. He decided to leave the mustard where it was.

He made it back to the bathroom just as Lyric limped out, a look of crestfallen agony on her beautiful face. With a smile, he held up his plundered booty. “I’ve got you covered.”

She stared at the mismatched selection he’d picked up, then rolled her eyes. “I’m not a cheeseburger, Heath.”

“Yeah, well, the selection was limited. I did the best I could.” He crouched down next her. “Let’s get you out of this dress.”

She glanced around wildly. “Not here.”

“Why not here? I thought you had to go to the bathroom.”

“I’m not wearing anything under this duct tape.”

He froze, even as his heartbeat went wild. “Nothing?” She’d said so earlier, but he’d thought she was kidding. He swallowed. All that lovely white skin, and the only thing between it and him was a thin veneer of tape. There wasn’t a man alive who hadn’t had that dream a time or two.

“My dress ripped, remember?” She shuffled from foot to foot. Lyric hummed the chorus of Beyonce’s “Put a Ring on It.” Huh?

“Yeah, but what about your underwear?” “The dress was too tight. I didn’t want a panty line.” She sucked in air like it was going out of style.

“Lyric Wright, are you telling me you weren’t lying when you told me you were traveling halfway across the Pacific in nothing but duct tape?” He might have a heart attack himself, especially now that he was picturing all the bare skin just beneath his hands.

“Well, it wasn’t by choice. Believe me.” Standing up, he propelled her back through the bathroom entrance. They were already attracting a fair amount of attention, and there was no way in hell he was stripping Lyric down in front of half the men in the Austin airport.

“Heath. This is the ladies’ room.” She sounded scandalized. “Would you rather go into the men’s room and do this?” Over his dead body, but she didn’t need to know that.

“Well, no. But you’ll get in trouble.” She looked around like she was waiting for some sort of bathroom bouncer to appear and toss him out.

“By who? The bathroom police?” He laughed. “Sweetheart, we’re in the Lone Star State now. Short of losing the Super Bowl or wearing 49ers colors, there’s not much I can do in this state that will get me into trouble.”

“Seriously?” She eyed him with disgust.

“This is the great state of Texas. When people talk about the Holy Trinity, they’re talking about Jesus, the NRA, and the Fort Worth Wranglers. So yeah, you and I could drop down right here on this surprisingly clean tile and go for it, and the only comments people would make would be to offer suggestions … to you. And they’d still want me to sign their tits.”

“You know this from experience?” She glanced at the floor, and he could just see that huge brain of hers filing away the facts.

Despite the potty dance she was doing, it was really an example of Lyric at her finest. Never judgmental, simply interested in gathering information. At least, until she said, “Well, just so you know. If it gets to that, I’m taking the top. And if you hurry and get this dress off, I just might be willing to give it a shot.”

It was the wrong thing for her to say. Now his mind was filled with all kinds of inappropriate images, namely of Lyric and her double Ds above him as she followed the advice of T-shirts everywhere: Save a horse. Ride a Cowboy.

But he could tell things were getting critical, and he really didn’t want her to have an accident, so he ushered her to the large handicap stall at the back of the restroom.

As he locked the door behind them, one of the women who’d been primping at the mirror called, “When’s my turn, Deuce?”

“One at a time, ma’am. The line forms to the right,” he called over the stall door. He turned to Lyric. “All right,” he said, laying out his improvised tools on the ledge created by the toilet paper holder like a nurse preparing a tray of sterile implements. “Let’s get to work.”

Examining the duct tape like it was a medium-rare New York strip, Heath grabbed the spork in his left hand and took the knife in his right. Then he stepped back and spent a moment taking stock. Did he start at the top and work down or at the bottom and work up? Both had appeal.

Lyric danced from side to side, humming Beyoncé louder. “Do. Something.”

He hadn’t remembered her ever humming before. He knelt in front of her—genuflecting to Mistress Duct Tape—and pain shot through his bad knee at the awkward position. Gritting his teeth, he ignored it and sawed lightly at the dress’s hem. The pathetic plastic knife bent and twisted under his hand with each slice, but he didn’t want to hurt her so he kept the pressure light.

“Hurry.” She clamped her thighs together. Christ, the way she said that word—like he was inside her and she couldn’t come fast enough—turned him on.

Great, now he had a bum knee and a hard-on from hell to deal with.

Instead of focusing on the pain, he concentrated on freeing her bare bottom. Her round, lush, sexy-as-hell bare bottom. Sweat broke out on his upper lip, and he shifted, determined to concentrate on the problem at hand. “Open your legs.” It came out a little short, but seriously, if he had a nickel for every time he’d said that, he’d have a shitload of nickels. “Sit on the toilet.” Now that was a new one.

Lyric looked at him in horror, then leaned over and pulled several handfuls of toilet paper from the holder before she began arranging them as a seat cushion. Heath scooted closer to her.

“Jesus, I thought you were in a hurry.”

“I am, but there are rules. A lady squats but never sits on a public toilet. Did you know the average public toilet has two million bacteria per square inch?”

She piled more toilet paper into what could only be called a wreath arrangement on the seat. Was it a centerpiece or a toilet? He was getting confused. Especially when his old pal Lyric referred to herself as a lady. He’d never thought of her like that before.

Then again, now that he’d been this close to her luscious thighs, he’d probably never be able to think of her as anything but. He rubbed his knee. “I’ll file that little tidbit under Lyric’s Fun Facts. Right up there with the one in twenty shot of a meteorite striking a plane.”

“Okay.” She half sat, half dropped onto the seat. “I’m ready.”

Heath didn’t have the heart to tell her that most of her fluffy seat cushion had landed on the floor.

“Here,” she inched her legs apart, “whatever you’ve got planned—GO FASTER.”

“Usually when I’m going at a woman from this angle I like to take my time. But in your case, I’ll make an exception.”

With all the force he could allow, he stabbed at the tape. The knife broke in half. “Damn.”

Lyric’s legs started to vibrate. “What’s taking so long? Prisoners with the intelligence of spider monkeys are able to dig out of Alcatraz with nothing but a spoon, but you can’t break me out of this dress?”

He shook his head. “There’s never a convict with a shiv around when you need one.” He had two Super Bowl rings, a Heisman Trophy, and more wins than he could count. There was no way in hell a few strips of duct tape were going to break his winning streak.

With all the murderous intent of Norman Bates’s mother with a butcher knife, Heath rammed the spork at the tape. The spork cracked down the middle and bit into his palm.

He stared at it for a second, then decided fuck it. It was past time to go old school. “Hold on honey, I’m going in.”

Licking his lips, he stuck his head between her thighs and clamped his teeth down on the tape. But the second his jaw scraped against her inner thighs, Lyric shrieked.

Her surprisingly strong thighs—who knew an astrophysicist could be so toned—clamped down on his ears and she giggled. “What are you doing? That tickles.” Lyric wiggled against him.

“My dad always taught me to use the tools at hand, and right now these are all I’ve got left.” Heath bit through the bottom edge of the dress, then spit out a chunk of tape and went for the next layer. It wasn’t the first dress he’d chewed through, but it was the first one that had stuck to his teeth.

About the Author
TRACY WOLFF

Tracy Wolff collects books, English degrees and lipsticks and has been known to forget where—and sometimes who—she is when immersed in a great novel. At six she wrote her first short story—something with a rainbow and a prince—and at seven she forayed into the wonderful world of girls lit with her first Judy Blume novel. By ten she’d read everything in the young adult and classics sections of her local bookstore, so in desperation her mom started her on romance novels. And from the first page of the first book, Tracy knew she’d found her life-long love. Now an English professor at her local community college, she writes romances that run the gamut from contemporary to paranormal to erotic suspense.

And for all of those who want the unedited version:

Tracy Wolff lives with four men, teaches writing to local college students and spends as much time as she can manage immersed in worlds of her own creation. Married to the alpha hero of her dreams for twelve years, she is the mother of three young sons who spend most of their time trying to make her as crazy as possible.

Tracy Wolff also writes as Tessa Adams.
