BURN
Part of a small demon lair in Las Vegas, tattooist Harper Wallis lives a pretty simple life. That changes overnight when she discovers that her psychic mate, or ‘anchor’, is a guy who’s rumoured to be the most powerful demon in existence. Compelling, full of secrets and armed with raw sexuality, Knox Thorne is determined to claim her as his anchor, creating a psychic bond that will prevent their inner demons from ever turning rogue. The billionaire also wants Harper in his bed.
Knox is used to getting what he wants, and he wants Harper. He’ll have her, and he’ll keep her safe from the threat that looms over her. Because Knox protects what’s his. He won’t allow anyone to take her from him. Even if it will mean letting the demon inside him rise and wreak the havoc it was created to make.
BURN by Suzanne Wright is my All Time Favorite PNR!!! No words to describe how much I ADORE this extraordinary and magical read!!! I’m going to try, but it will be hard, because with how much I loved it, it’s hard not to simply gush all around, fan-girling, because it’s THAT good!
Harper Wallis is a very special demon, with an independent streak a mile long, a fierce protective instinct with those she loves, and a brutal honesty, not much can shake her. That is until Knox Thorne crashes into her life and doesn’t intend to move from there…
Knox is one of the most, if not the most, powerful demons in the world. He is the Prime of his huge lair and let’s just say, with how important he is, evidently, he has a reputation.
There were many other rumors about Knox: that he was dangerous, calculated, notoriously sexual, and someone who lived by his own rules on his own schedule.
When they meet for the first time, even though both try to brush it off and disguise it, the chemistry and pull in immense and instantaneous in all the levels, but it’s when they touch that they discover their unique psychic connection. Harper is his one and only anchor (definition is perfectly explained in the book, but each demon has his on anchor in the world, it settles them, give then stability and with that power, amongst other things).
Of course after her past, Harper is not one to let go and just follow blindly, especially in something so delicate as this life long commitment. But Knox fast realizes this and why, and let’s just say, what he wants, he ways gets, no matter how much, and how he needs to fight for it. And he wants Harper, more than anything! 😉
Evidently, he wasn’t denied things often. Well, Harper did like to introduce people to new experiences. It was more of a calling, really.
Harper certainly doesn’t make his task easy, but where is the fun in that?! Their banter, and her back and forth were some of my favorite things in this story. her sassiness, intelligence and perceptiveness really shone through, and for the first time in his long life, Knox was surprised at every turn by his little sphinx. And surprisingly to him, his demon part instead of being aggravated by this, it agreed with him, and wanted to possess the she-demon, just as much as his human counterpart.
I absolutely loved this couple, it fast became one of my all time favorite fictional couples. I equally loved them as individual characters, and that doesn’t happen often for me. They were undeniably PERFECT in my opinion. Specially perfect together.
“Oh, little sphinx, do you really think I can’t sense how powerful you are? In any case, that doesn’t matter. I don’t want you for power. Or even to stop me from turning rogue.”
“Then why?”
“Because you’re mine. I don’t walk away from what’s mine.”
The magnetism and dark (not strangely, since they’re demons) sexual energy is always present in their interactions, and when they give in it’s beyond explosive! Their sex scenes are fucking spectacular and in them they let go and show they true nature, so be prepared because Knox’s dominant and possessive nature, is elevated in those scene and coupled with his filthy talk, he really becomes lethal to the feminine genre!
No one kissed like Knox Thorne. He poured every ounce of himself into it, making it just as erotic as sex itself.
Suzanne Wright created, IMO, the PERFECT paranormal, that I’m always ready to read and re-read! The individual development of the characters, the unrevealing of the intricate side plot, the secondary characters, that make us wish for all their individual stories, is abso-fucking-lutely BRILLIANT!!! And now the continuation of Harper and Knox’s story is almost here (September 1st) and I couldn’t be any more excited! I want more Dark in You NOW!!!! <3 <3 <3
“They’re not freaky or a defect. They’re unique, just like you.”
For those who need more Harper and Knox, there’s Blaze, also out
on 1st September.
