When life leaves you scarred…
Dexter Price hadn’t been the same since the day he lost his family and became scarred. Living with physical and emotional scars made him the angry loner that he was. Never thinking of a future with a family, he worked his life away…until one of his morning…
Elena Collins had her own scars that left her distant and all alone. A run in the park changed everything. After being knocked down by a careless bicyclist, she received a helping hand up from a man who she only knew from afar, but who had an important part to play in her past.
Their scars kept them from others, but brought them together. Can how they got them tear them apart?
One beautiful story of two lonely scarred souls that find their soulmate, and in them their true healing.
Dexter has been living a very lonely and painful life since that tragic day where he lost his parents, and was scarred, in more ways than one, for the rest of his life.
They were still there—the scars that marred my flesh. The scars that held the pain of my loss.
By distancing himself from everyone, either by choice or by the others’ reaction to him, was his self-preservation mechanism. That is, until he found someone who he did want to push away, but to pull in and never let go, Elena.
Elena has been alone all her live, carrying scars of her own, and a complicated past. She’s been living somewhat of a resigned life, but still longing for something, or maybe someone…
When they run into each other, their magnetism is palpable, so much so that it shocks both of them. Dexter immediately recognizes her as someone special to him, and for the first time in his life he wants to hold on to her, and never let go.
They just had no idea that Fate was working in their encounter, and their pasts were more intertwined than they could ever imagine.
Not that it was going to stop Dex of taking what he considered his…
“Hate you, woman. I could never hate you. I’m trying not to fall madly in love with you—until you’re ready for it.”
“Yeah, you’re right. It’s bullshit. I fell in love with you from the first moment our hands touched. I knew you would be the one to rescue me from the pain of the past.”
I loved this couple, and specially their interactions and balance between the characters. Elena was in not way a doormat to Dexter’s cavemanish behavior, and they actually got off on the others reactions and resistance.
This was also reflected in the sex scenes, given that they were both virgin, the fact that that didn’t, in any way, steal from the steaminess of their interactions, and in my opinion, and it actually added to their amazing chemistry is proof of the C. M. Steele talent, but also that he don’t need to have experience MCs to create sizzling hot sex scenes, and a lot of naughty and dirty talking moments. Coupled with their love, it was perfection.
Dexter, for me, was the absolutely perfect hero, I loved everything about him, his possessiveness, protectiveness and is utter love and devotion to Elena left me sighing all the time. He was so dreamy, he made me crave even more male MCs like him.
There wasn’t a soul in this world that could keep me from her. I’d do everything in my power to become a man worthy of her, but for now, I just needed to give praise and devotion to my savior, my reason for coming alive.
This was such a sweet and sexy story, I really love this insta-love/lust, OTT possessive alpha H trope, and C. M. Steele always does it beautifully, but, in my opinion, in this one story she took it one step forward. This was my absolute favorite from all her books. I don’t know if it was the addiction of the virgin H (which I loved, btw), or the plot itself, but I adored this little read. There are some minor writing details that could be worked upon, but I completely disregarded since, after reading all the author’s books, I know it as already improved and I’m sure it will be perfected along her career. Especially since it didn’t steal, in any way , from my enjoyment of the book. It left me feeling good and happy, and that’s just what I’m searching for in my romance books.

C.M. Steele is a mother of three and a wife of one. Being a voracious reader of romance novels, she decided to create her own heroes to fall in love with. Although, the process was harder than she expected. There were times when she wanted to throw in the towel and go back to work in the business world, but it was the few readers that kept her going.
Now she’s living her dream of creating characters she loves and sharing them with other readers. She’s had moments of doubt and disappointment, but the voices in her head want their stories told, so she must go on. The voices are always naughty, bossy males. She knows they are never to be resisted so she must comply and tell their tales.
