“Did they teach you nothing in Hunter school? When you go outside the Wildlands, you don’t draw attention to yourself and your kind.”

With a curse, she pushed away from him, releasing his wrists. “Get dressed.”

“It’d go faster if you helped.”

She dropped into a chair and snorted. “No interest in touching you.”

“You’re just going to leave me like this?”

“I’m sure it’s not the first time.”

He laughed and pushed away from the door. She was feisty. A true cat. Spitting one moment, purring the next. It was disappointing that he’d never see her again after today. But such was life. Well, his life.

He pulled on his shirt then grabbed his jeans. “Can I ask you something?”

  “What?” she practically snarled.

“Why do you love it? The Wildlands?” He zipped up and put on his shoes. “Don’t you feel caged there? Like an…animal?”

“I love being an animal. I wish I had fur on my back right now.”

“That’s right,” he recalled. “No shifting outside the magic of the Wildlands… So…are you in your cat more often than you’re like this?” He walked toward her, his gaze flickering past her for a brief second.

“If I could be in my cat 24/7, I would.”

She stood up. “Can we go now.” It wasn’t a question, and his answer wasn’t a verbal one.

He reached behind her, yanked the chair forward, which made her falter, her butt landing on the cushion once again. He leaned in close, his eyes locked with hers, his face just an inch away. “Cab waiting outside? Or is it a limo? Maybe a horse-drawn carriage? I’m used to grand gestures.”

For a few brief seconds—which was all he needed—the female seemed to consider this. Then her lips twitched and her eyes took on a mocking look. She was damn good at those looks. Made his knees buckle. Almost.

“I’m thinking I’ll just throw you over my shoulder, caveman style.” She batted her eyelashes. “Or cavewoman.”

He groaned. This sucked. “Goddess, you don’t know how good that sounds.” He stood up, exhaling with disappointment. “Another time. I hope.”

She sniffed and rolled her eyes, then started to rise. When she realized she was tied to the chair, her gaze blasted his and she bared her teeth.

Header KaydenSimon

These Pantera just keep getting more and more delicious. Kayden and Simon’s story just proves that…

The Bayou Heat is one of my favorite series, and I’m always counting the days to every new release or news of it. This series is the perfect example of a wonderful and successful writing collaboration, because Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright really make it work! These enticing short stories about every member, and his mate, got me completely hooked, and the connecting sub-plot between all the books, just entices us even more!

I loved both couples, for various reasons, and would have given a even higher rating if not for the sudden ending on both stories. I know that’s typical of the 1001 Dark Nights series, and this series itself, but I wanted even more!!! But I’m sure we’ll get some more peeks into these couples’ lives in the upcoming books of the series. I already want the next! One thing is always guaranteed: off-the-charts charts chemistry and some scorching sex scenes, and these two stories had that in spades!!!

KAYDEN – 4.75 Stars

Kayden was set out to revenge the death of his parents. What he didn’t expect was to find in their killer’s house, his destined mate.

Bianca has been locked down from the outside world all her life, so when she was captured by a delicious man who made her feel SO many different and new things, she didn’t have much of a chance to resist. They were, after all, meant to be together.

Teaser Kayden

Kayden was absolutely the perfect Hero! Even when his motives and revenge were so present and justified, and he didn’t even know her, or who she was, he always treated Bianca like some precious for him.

“My princess.”
She flashed him a chiding smile. “Why do you keep calling me that?”
He captured her fingers that had been exploring his face, pressing them to his lips.
“That’s how I think of you,” he murmured. “An exquisite, rare beauty who has been hidden away. Just waiting for me to rescue her.”
“My very own Prince Charming?”
“More like the Big Bad Wolf.” His smile was wicked. “Or in this case, the big bad kitty.”

And soon enough she overtook the attention, and her happiness, their happiness became his main goal.

“Why did you change your mind?”
He leaned toward her, his eyes darkening as his cat prowled close to the surface.
He didn’t hesitate. “Because your happiness is more important than my revenge.”

Bianca was fantastic too, but Kayden… Wow… He’s the kind of character that true romances are made of! He had me constantly sighing and thinking of even with her horrible parental situation, Bianca was one lucky girl!

“I’m a Pantera,” he said on a growl. “Once we choose our mates, there are never any second thoughts. Our love and devotion is unwavering. And eternal.”

Simon may present a cocky and confident image as an international model, but when Tryst is sent to bring his back to the Wildland, their home, she quickly find out that it’s all a facade to protect and cover something that was broken a long time ago.

They both try to fight the scorching chemistry between them, but it was evident from the very beginning that it was a lost battle.

I loved how confident and honest Tryst was. And absolutely kickass!!! She is a completely no-bullshit kind of woman, and when she sees something she wants and believes in, she fights for it with everything she has! And fight she did!

Simon’s gorgeous exterior hides an immeasurable amount of pain and trauma caused by the ones who should have protect him the most, his own parents. Trust is very hard for him to believe in and that someone loves his, even more. So Tryst will have to fight to change his mind, and show him he could be the center of someone’s world and make him a believer. And since she never loses a battle, you can be sure, she most certainly did!

And when he eased back, his nose resting against hers, and whispered the words, “My home” and “My Tryst” against her lips, she finally understood the true meaning of the word “mate.”
It wasn’t about claiming at all. It was about connecting.
Two Hearts.
Two minds.
One soul.

About the Author

Alexandra Ivy - headshotAlexandra Ivy is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author. From Alexandra: “I’m not exactly sure when I fell in love with books. Probably on my mother’s knee listening to her read Dr. Seuss to me. I do remember that I was barely old enough to cross the street by myself when I discovered the delights of the local library.

Could anything be more wonderful than spending summer days surrounded by stacks of Nancy Drew mysteries? Over the years I fell in love with Victoria Holt, Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, and J.R.R. Tolkien just to name a few. I read poetry, essays, biographies, and plays. In fact, I read anything I could get my hands on.

Years later (no, I’m not admitting how many) I’m still an avid reader, and my tastes are still as varied as they were in my youth, which I suppose helps to explain why I enjoy writing regency historicals under the name of Deborah Raleigh, as well as my contemporary paranormals as Alexandra Ivy. For now that is enough to keep me busy, but who knows what the future might hold!

I do have a few other loves in my life besides reading and writing, the most important being my unbelievably patient husband, David, and my two sons, Chance and Alexander. Without their constant support and belief in me, I never could have been able to follow my dreams. They are truly my heroes.

Laura Wright - headshotLaura Wright is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author. From Laura: “Unlike many of my peers in the writing world, I wasn’t a writer or a reader until I left high school. During my youth I was into theater, song and dance, commercials and boys. I loved romance surely, but I had never read a romance novel until my late teens. With that said, I remember the day I did like it was a moment ago – my aunt gave me the Jude Deveraux novel, Knight in Shining Armor and I couldn’t put it down until the very last word. Then I went straight to the library and got another – then another until I’d read everything she’d ever written. After that, it was McNaught, Howard, Schone, Kleypas, and the Silhouette line, Desire. I instantly loved those emotional, sexy reads, so much so that I began to carve out ideas for my own stories, themes that were unique to me and moved me. In 1997 I enrolled in UCLA extension writing classes, met my mentor and critique partners and since have never stopped writing. I was committed then and I still am now; the need to tell my own romantic stories a full on obsession. My first manuscript was rejected, and though the second one was as well the editor who’d rejected it wanted to see something else from me. I had something (note to authors; always keep working, even after you’ve sent in a proposal) and sent it right away. The day I got the call telling me Desire wanted to buy Cinderella and the Playboy was the best day of my life. That is until I married my husband, and had my two beautiful children. But I must say, writing is much like motherhood – tough, grueling, surprising, delicious and for me, a dream come true.”

Header Perfect Rage

EXTRAORDINARY! Nashoda Rose created the most emotionally beautiful, heart wrenching, soul touching, and without a doubt, absolutely unforgettable story in PERFECT RAGE!

Connor and Alina – Catalina – meet eleven prior to the present time set of the book on Afghanistan, where Alina went as a magazine photographer on a piece about an orphanage and Connor was on the end of his mission before doing the tryouts for the Canadian special forces.

Their chemistry was undeniable, from the very first moment they met, and during this month they fell deeply in love and recognized in the other their soulmate.

It was an awakening of my body. I didn’t know if he felt it, too, probably not, but for me it awakened something inside me. Like it lived and breathed with all these new emotions.

It was a free fall as he thrust inside me. Not knowing where I’d land. If I’d survive. But nothing mattered except the beauty in the fall.

Sadly, an evil reality came crashing down on them, in the most atrocious of ways, and they were separate, tortured and broken…

Teaser Perfect Rage 1

Without revealing to much, since the journey is key in this book, they both went through hell, but thought they would always have the memory of their love.

Carved. Etched. Engraved. Fuck, it was everything. Her standing there was an image I’d never forget. Didn’t need a fuckin’ photo to remind me.

Or so they thought…

When they were able to chemically erase every trace of the old Connor from his memory, and transform him into a killing machine, they destroyed Alina right along with him. But also shown us how she NEVER, not even for a moment, stopped believing in their love, never stopped believing in Connor.

Through it all, every heart breaking moment, she was their unmovable anchor, and his safe harbor.

At any moment, life could throw a hook and drag you under, but if you had that one person to hold onto, the fight to the surface was easier. That person was your reason to breathe.

Recovering his memories was devastating to him, he saw no way out of the darkness but still couldn’t stay away from Alina. Their connection was indeniable, and even when he fought it he came defeated every time, because he just couldn’t stay away from him, she was part of him, his sliver of light in a sea of darkness and demons.

Teaser Perfect Rage 2

And that’s all she ever wanted, to be with and there for him. She was wholesome hearty his. The other half of his soul…

“I fell for you, Connor. I fell in love with you a long time ago. I may not have known all of you, but I knew who you were, what type of person. And I loved who I was with you.”

“You love a man who’s dead. That’s not me now, Alina.”

“Maybe not. But whoever you’ve become, you’re still the man I love. You’re still him and remembering what you’ve done is killing you. But you know why it is? Because you still have the good parts. If you didn’t care, none of the stuff you did while drugged would matter to you.”

Alina was one of the strongest heroines I’ve ever read. Even with her own personal  brand of torture, she could only think of Connor. She fought for them and their love all throughout the story, and her faith in them never once wavered. All she ever wanted was their love, and their second chance.

Connor… I couldn’t have loved him more. After Kai, in Perfect Ruin, I thought I had found my favorite Nashoda hero, and he could be beat. Well wasn’t I wrong?! I loved Connor and every broken piece of him, which just made him more special. His loyalty, sense of right, devotion and playfulness (prior to the programming drugs) we impossible to resist, so I completely understand Alina’s fight for them, because damn, he’s more than worth it! His love for Alina was just as pure and soul deep.

“What I feel for her is limitless. There is no end to the love I have for her.”

Perfect Rage really was one of the most beautiful Love stories I’ve ever read and this characters chemistry came through in every single page. Never once did I doubt they were meant to be together. And of course that exploded in their ‘orgasmic inducing’ sex scenes! Lordy, these were some of the steamiest scenes I’ve had the pleasure of reading. They weren’t just having sex, they were indeed communicating with their bodies! These scenes were just as emotionally charged as the rest, even more so. You could feel it transpiring with every touch, with every breath… It was indeed a way for them to communicate their love for one another.

“My mind may have forgotten you, Alina, but my body never did.”

Of course we have some extraordinary secondary characters, specially the MCs of the previous books – which that give us one more look into their HEA – and show an incredible loyalty, friendship and support to both the main characters, even when they least wanted. That’s what friends are for, after all! 😉

“Jesus Christ, why can’t you leave me the fuck alone?”

“You know why,” Deck answered calmly. “We don’t leave a man behind—Ever.”

Nashoda creates some of the most perfect imperfect characters I’ve ever read and transforms their story in the most unique of ways, approaching serious themes like sex and child traficking, torture, murder, rape, but never in a descriptive, traumatizing way, but getting her point across and creating awareness on the matter. That is a true gift! And even though you get all these points, the main focus of her book, and this is no exception, are the ROMANCE, the beautiful LOVE story, and them getting their own Happy Ever After!

“We’re going to be okay, aren’t we?”

“Yeah. Not perfect. Not the same. But yeah.”

“I don’t want perfect or the same. I just want us and whoever we are now,”

It took us eleven years to get here, but we made it because our love was limitless.

THE ENFORCER (Untamed Hearts #3) by Kele Moon

Header The Enforcer

You know that expression we see all the time in romance books, ‘You’ve ruined me for other men’? That’s exactly how I felt after reading this book. Kele, I feel like this book completely ruined for every other book, and believe I say this in the most adulatory way.

First of all, it’s been almost one week since I’ve finished it and I still feel book hungover (there are very few books I can say the same thing about), and while reading it, I had to pause several times, to take a breather, for THE FIRST TIME EVER, not because I was bored or tired of the story, but because my heart was literally hurting for these characters, especially Tino, and I needed a moment to ground and remind myself that it is fiction. That’s how EXTRAORDINARY Kele Moon’s writing is, she really makes us share these moments, scenes and feelings with the MCs. And this is not even counting the times I found myself crying while reading it. So unless you want people to thinks you are going crazy or being hormonal, I advise you not to read the book in public. Yes, it’s an emotional heavy story, but it’s so very much more than that.

I can honestly say that, after this read, I can’t really set this book in my usual parameters, because it’s most definitely NOT a safe read, (it has to many triggers for that) but that didn’t hurt the book in my eyes. You can imagine how good of a book it is if it made me forgo my usual safety/spoilerish quirks.

And for that reason this won’t be my typical review, because, for the very first time, I don’t want to spoiler it. Believe me when I say that if I were to reveal the ‘safety’ triggers I would destroy the story for you guys.

Half of the richness of this book is on the unveiling of the events, and the journey on itself. The other half comes from pure Kele Moon gift. It may seem like an exaggeration, but there is no other way to explain it because it’s the deceivingly natural result of her extensive research (underworld, dance, language, cultures), realness and rawness of her characters, and incredible scene setting, that really make her writing unique. In my opinion, she is one of the most talented romance writers of our generation, and I can’t wait for everyone of you to enjoy her gift and realize that.

This book is the third book of the Untamed Hearts series (Spinoff of the Battered Hearts Series), and the first of the two parts of Tino, Valentino Moretti’s story.

Teaser Enforcer 3

After reading both series, I knew that this series was getting a darker setting, we are, after all, getting more and more into the mafia’s underworld, to whom these men, unfortunately, will be forever linked by their name, Moretti.

The attempted murder of Brianna, by order of the head of the Moretti family, is the trigger for the cataclysm of events that will occur from this point forward, because for Tino, she is the one thing they were forbidden to touch.

Teaser Enforcer 1

But before we can embark on these events Kele takes us to the Moretti brothers’ past, from the event that changed these siblings lives forever, Romeo’s arrest. And this is the core of the book, the beginning of Tino’s life as we know it and all the events that transformed him in the man he is in the present, the Enforcer.

His stolen childhood by abuse and neglect are truly heartbreaking, and without a doubt some of the most emotional moments I have ever read. Even so, a faint trace of hope always seemed present, something to hold on to…

“This is Neverland. The rest of the world doesn’t exist anymore. The sooner you forget it, the easier it’ll be,” Carlo said softly. “Learn to fight your own battles. We have to be better than them. Stronger. Faster. Smarter. Lost Boys have to fly.”

Tino shows us the true meaning of unmeasurable  love, loyalty and sacrifice for his siblings. He will, literally, do anything for his brothers and sister.

Teaser Enforcer 2-2

But there isn’t only sadness, we get see when Tino and Brianna first meeting, and their bond developing throughout the years. Their love is a force of nature,

Together, they were like a firework.

Beautiful in the night.

A dusty smear of ash in the morning when reality crashed in and ruined the high. They just weren’t ever meant to be more than one brief, amazing explosion of memories that should’ve been enough to sustain them.

But it hadn’t been.

Not even close.

Tino even shows us that his love for Brianna goes one step further, because he worships her. She is lifeline throughout all sacrifices. She is everything to him.

Brianna was a strong and loyal character. She was always there, to support and love him, no matter what. She was everything he needed.

Let’s talk about their chemistry together, because, my friends, if there is one thing that Kele know how to do perfectly, is create some nuclear, of the charts, chemistry. When these two where in the same room it was palpable, and when touching, whether it was dancing or kissing, it exploded, and nobody else existed for them. And the sex scenes, boy oh boy, let’s just say they are need-a-cold-shower-after HOT.

Teaser Enforcer 4

It wasn’t the easiest road for them, as we see, but by the end of this part, even though it’s not a HEA, it’s also not, in my eyes, a cliffhanger. We can anticipate what will happen next, but it doesn’t make you want to scream and throw you e-reader at the wall! LOL

That said, I can’t wait to put my greedy hands on the second part of this story, so please Kele, don’t make us wait to long…Pretty please… (*cue puppy eyes*)

And I can’t finish without saying….TINO, YOU MATTER!!!
