FRIES BEFORE GUYS

Series: SWAT Generation 2.0 #2

Author: Lani Lynn Vale

Genre: Romantic Suspense

Release Date: February 11th, 2020

Synopsis

Sometimes people come into a person’s life and make their heart skip a beat.

Those people are called cops.

Well, one cop in particular.

A SWAT officer for the Kilgore Police Department, to be specific.

The first time Avery Flynn saw Derek Roberts, she was photographing him for the first annual Kilgore Police Department SWAT calendar. He was leaned back in his squad car, shirtless, and giving her a smile that was completely between them. A smile that hinted at what he wanted to do to her later.

When she scrounges up the courage to ask him out after the photoshoot, he laughs in her face.

Well, screw you, too, Mr. February.

***

Derek Roberts never really paid attention to the photographer.

She was a mousy girl who dressed like a twelve-year-old girl. Her tight leggings, extra baggy Star Trek t-shirt denoting her a Klingon captain, and her surprisingly clean Chucks didn’t leave much of an impression.

Now, the outfit that she was in weeks after he rebuffed her? Yeah, now that caught his attention.

Too bad that happens when he’s trying to save her from what’s sure to be death thanks to an unhinged native Texan who’s convinced she was the reason he lost his last chance at a million dollars.

When he tries to save her, she tells him she’d rather take a cattle prod to the forehead than go anywhere with him.

Challenge. Accepted.

5 ‘I. Want. You.’ Stars

OMG, Lani Lynn Vale‘s FRIES BEFORE GUYS has put me through the best of ringers! Derek and Avery’s story made you go through one end to the other of the EMOTIONAL spectrum! How is it possible that in just one book, one unforgettable love story, I go from crying my little black heart out to belly hurting, ‘rolling in the floor’ laughing?! Pure LLV brilliance, that’s how!

I knew, going into this book would wreck me, Avery’s heartbreaking background could do no less, but immediately at the start she keeps getting more and more knocked down, and I HURT for her. Badly!

She goes through hell, and the way she was so incredibly strong, and so fiercely independent, made Avery one of my biggest girl crushes. For someone so young, she couldn’t have been more mature and grounded. I loved EVERYTHING about her. One of the most beautiful and heartbreaking female characters ever!

And for a great heroine, we got an outstanding hero! Derek may have resisted – in the most herculean of ways, lol – to his insanely strong attraction to Avery, but once he saw there was no point in resisting, and that the age difference in their case it was indeed just a number, he was all in. It gave us the feel of more slow burn romance, and which was perfect for them. What I loved even more though, was that he didn’t bulldoze his way into her life – ok, he did but just not more than necessary, because hello, Avery was also stubborn as hell, hahah –  but allowed her to find her own self, to ‘grow’ and conquer the world on her own. To achieve her goals and win her battles, but he was right there to cheer her on. Really best book boyfriend material.

I’d seen this girl cry way too much.
Way too fucking much.

It was getting exhausting trying to stay away from her when fate kept throwing us together.

Lani Lynn Vale, never fails in giving us the most addictively gripping and emotional of the storylines, and Fries Before Guys was no exception! So many feeeelllllllsssss!!! And to not only get to know the coming SWAT Generation 2.0 enticing and intriguing future leads, but to revisit some of our favorites of the original SWAT is beyond fantastic. I never want this spin offs and his setting to end! KPD SWAT forever!!! And of course I’m already on the countdown for the next SWAT to fall!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

“I don’t want to break you. I want to fix you. I want to love you. I want to care for you.”
“I. Want. You,” he continued. “I choose you.”

“There are times when I know that I’ll remember the moment forever,” she said. “And this day is one of them.”
