Synopsis

Coming this October from New York Times Bestselling Author, Kristen Proby, comes an all new paranormal romance set in the mystical city of New Orleans…

I am never alone. Not even when I am alone.

I see the unquiet dead, the souls that wander through the French Quarter.

They can’t move on, and I can’t stop seeing them.

I wear malachite for protection, and I control what I let in. It’s the only way to stay sane. Everything changes the day Cassian Winslow joins my ghost walking tour and knocks my world off its axis with green eyes the color of the stone around my neck.

An unspeakable evil is loose in New Orleans, taking young women and leaving a bloodbath in his wake. More shadows lurking for me. More unhappy dead. There might be a way to stop it.

Open myself up to Cassian.

If I do, it could spell his death.

But if I don’t, it’s mine.

5 ‘Soul Recognition’ Stars

Ohhhh, myyyy, gooooddddd!!! Kristen Proby has the most exciting and goosebump inspiring of reads within SHADOWS! KP’s very first full on PNR – though one of my fav of hers, Easy Magic, already had plenty of supernatural going on – is a mind gripping, heart palpitating paranormal masterpiece!

This is the first of a brand new series focused on three witch sisters and this Practical Magic hardcore fan is hooked! The chill inducing take on the serial killer thriller, the suspense, the sisterhood, and the ROMANCE… We have it ALL!!!

Shadows, as the name itself suggests is very focused on the paranormal, mainly in this case, on the dead’s shadows that Brielle alone can see, her gift. Not only was the book fantastic and intricately crafted in this ‘witchy’ universe, but also the interconnection with the serial killer – specially his POV – which was so beautifully executed that more than once gave me literally the CHILLS. That’s is proof on how masterfully it’s written

“Sometimes, monsters walk among us, and there’s just nothing we can do about that.”

The love story, oh my, talk about catnip! There are very little things I adore more in my romance than a fated mated /soulmate type of love story, and Cash and Brielle’s meeting and insta feel of connection fit that to a T. Not only that, but thanks to Ms. Proby  ‘s usual and fantastic craft, even with this insta parameter, it was just so relatable and believable! I not only read, but FELT their soul deep connection, and it’s blossoming into love.

I can’t explain it. I barely know her, but I crave her company.
It was as if I recognized her the second I saw her.

“I’m drawn to you in ways I can’t explain. Like I said before, it’s a…recognition. Like, I was looking for you and didn’t even know it.”

The suspense, the intrigue, the fear and the pain were so perfectly blended with Kristen Proby’s brand of humor, partnership, love and sexiness that we just dive in into this world, and we never want to emerge back. The mystery and the occult were a joy to unveil, the sister’s relationship and hints of the future couple, enticing to say the least, but the love story… WOW… Never once did I forget I was reading a romance, when Cash and Brielle were on page, their chemistry was palpable, and their love and devotion #RelationshipGoals! Awwww, and insanely did I mention that?!

“Once I start kissing you, I won’t want to stop there. You’re a game-changer, Brielle, and we’re a little busy right now.

This man doesn’t merely kiss and call it a day.
No, he kisses like it’s his damn job. Like kissing me is the only thing in the world he can think about.
As if he’s wanted to kiss me for decades.

Saying I devoured this book is an understatement, because I not only greedily consumed every word, I savored  them, and absorbed them into my heart. Shadows was all I hoped for and so much, MUCH more! I was already deeply hooked to Ms. Proby’s masterful contemporary romance, but adding to that my love for PNR, it’s a no brainer that Shadows is now one of my all time fav PNR, and I’m already counting down the days until we get the other two witch sisters, Millie and Daphne, specially after that teasing ending and this book is proof that. Need them stat!!!  <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

“Witches aren’t always scary,” Millie says with a wink. “And they look after their own.”

About the Author

Kristen Proby_AuthorPic1

Kristen was born and raised in a small resort town in her beloved Montana. In her mid-twenties, she decided to stretch her wings and move to the Pacific Northwest, where she made her home for more than a dozen years.

During that time, Kristen wrote many romance novels and joined organizations such as RWA and other small writing groups. She spent countless hours in workshops, and more mornings than she can count up before the dawn so she could write before going to work. She submitted many manuscripts to agents and editors alike, but was always told no. In the summer of 2012, the self-publishing scene was new and thriving, and Kristen had one goal: to publish just one book. It was something she longed to cross off of her bucket list.

Not only did she publish one book, she’s since published close to thirty titles, many of which have hit the USA Today, New York Times and Wall Street Journal Bestsellers lists. She continues to self publish, best known for her With Me In Seattle and Boudreaux series, and is also proud to work with William Morrow, a division of HarperCollins, with the Fusion Series.

Kristen and her husband, John, make their home in her hometown of Whitefish, Montana.
