Synopsis

Baseball has never been sexier in an all-new novel by New York Times Bestselling Author, K. Bromberg.

Easton Wylder is baseball royalty. The game is his life. His passion. His everything.

So, when an injury threatens to end Easton’s season early, the team calls in the renowned physical therapist, Doc Dalton, to oversee his recovery. Except it’s not Doc who greets Easton for his first session, but rather his daughter, Scout. She may be feisty, athletic, defiant, and gorgeous, but Easton is left questioning whether she has what it takes to help him.

Scout Dalton’s out to prove a female can handle the pressure of running the physical therapy regimen of an MLB club. And that proof comes in the form of getting phenom Easton Wylder back on the field. But getting him healthy means being hands-on.

And with a man as irresistible as Easton, being hands-on can only lead to one thing, trouble. Because the more she touches him, the more she wants him, and she can’t want him. Not when it’s her job to side in the club’s best interest if he’s ready to play.

But when sparks fly and fine lines are crossed, can they withstand the heat or is one of them bound to get burned?

Header The Player

The Player really is SO much more than a sports romance!

K. Bromberg proved once again what an incredibly talented author she is, and what an addictive writing style she has, keeping us completely enthralled in the story, that we only rest when we find the words The End.

Easton Wylder’s life is baseball. He lives, breaths and sleeps the sport, so when he suffers a serious – and career threatening – injury which forces him to stay away from this sport that defines his whole existence, he finds himself in a dark place where the hope of a full recovery and being back in the game is his only lifeline.

And I dare to look at what I’m missing out on. The nets of the backstop fade away as I stare at the place where I’ve lived my life—between the chalk lines and behind home plate.
It’s fucking beautiful. A blessing and a curse. My pleasure and my pain.
The only thing I’ve ever known.
The only thing I’ve ever wanted to do.

To recover all that he demands the best of the best of physical therapists, Doc Dalton, PT legend.

Well, we can’t always have what we want, and destiny throws Easton what heck of a curveball when the beautiful, smart and feisty, Scout Dalton, shows up in her father’s place to bring back to shape. Let’s just say that their first meeting/s is LEGENDARY! LOL!

And there’s a zap of electricity—a hum of something—when our bodies connect in this most innocent of ways.

Sparks fly, tempers ignite, and K. Bromberg gives us one of the most delicious and well thought out sexy  and smart banters I have ever read!

“So, what? You just walk up and throw some stats at her? ‘Hey, baby, I’m having a killer season, batting three seventy-five with a twenty-game hitting streak. Wanna go out?’”
“Nah.” He fights back a laugh, and I hate that even though I know I’m being mocked, that sheepish smile of his draws me in to take a step closer. “I just tell her I have a big stick and I know just how to use it.”

Easton really proves to be a challenging patient, but worry not, because Scout sure gives as good as she gets and I LOVED that! Her comebacks are just was good as Easton’s teasing.

“So you actually want me to look at your arm? You mean you’ll trust me with it? And here I was under the impression you thought I was just a trophy trainer.”
“Come again?” He chuckles.
Time to clear the air between us. Being handsome doesn’t override being an asshole. “You know, trophy trainer—someone good for you to look at, but incapable of much else.”
He shrugs. “If the shoe fits.”

Their chemistry is undeniable, and this back and forth between them just takes to a whole new level of sexual tension! Their teasing and sports innuendos just blew my mind! I couldn’t get enough of these two!

“This is contract, Hot Shot,” I say knowing damn well he’s enjoying this. “We’ll start working our way to first base, and then, depending on how you’re feeling, we can move on to second.”

So when they finally gave in to their attraction, we got some OFF THE CHARTS sex scenes! Of course the teasing and witty banter was also present in those, and it just made it more deliciously HOT!

“You like that?”
“God, yes.”
“I don’t think God has anything to do with this, but feel free to call his name.” He chuckles and looks up at me over the rise of my breasts, his eyes sharp with desire and contradicted by a cocky flash of a grin. “’Cause we’re about to get biblical.”

OMG, this man!!! Yes, Scout was a kickass female character, and I loved her strength and smart mouth, but Easton surprised the hell out of me! I was expecting the standard cocky ‘player’ persona to a T, but K. Bromberg surprised me and gave us an incredible and deep character, with a hint of fragility and a whole lot of love and sincerity that coupled with his smoking hot image made him impossible to resist!

Sure, Easton hits all my buttons: hot, athletic, funny, and a bit of a mystery.

He didn’t hit just her buttons that’s for sure! He was sensible and caring. Utterly swoon-worthy! Directly to my Best Book Boyfriend list! <3

You got me. And then you seduced me.”
“I what?” I cough the words out as that soft smile of his turns big and bright.
“You seduced me. A beautiful woman with a sharp tongue, a sharper mind, and a look in her eye that said she was scared and confident, haloed by the light of a baseball stadium . . . I mean, a man only has so much restraint when it comes to that kind of perfection.”

Didn’t I tell you he was dreamy?! Swoon…

And what made me love him even more was that he fast realized how special their connection was, and from that moment forward he was all in, and pursued her relentlessly. He took her and her insecurities and fear and did everything humanly possible to show her that she should take a chance on them. That she could trust him with her heart. I truly couldn’t have asked for a better male character.

“I’ve had enough people in my life leave me, Easton. I’m not walking willingly into a situation that sets me up for that hurt.”

“I’ve played on grass my whole life, Scout. There’s no need for me to see what’s out there when it’s green beneath my feet.”

Even Scout couldn’t resist this kind of proof. Just like in baseball, he gave everything of him, and proved over and over how worthy he was of this chance. How their relationship was worthy of letting go of her fears. Even with the upcoming obstacles I have no doubt they are worth fighting for. And Scout’s motto ‘clear mind, hard heart’ will prove to be moot when it comes to them.

That hard heart of mine doesn’t seem so hard any more. Not when it comes to Easton Wylder, at least.

In those moments she let’s go and they give in to their carnal magnetism, you better be prepared for this degree of HEAT. Add to that their mutual taste for filthy talk, and let’s just say you may need a cold shower to sooth the hot flashes they will provoke! 😉

“I want your cock, Easton Wylder. I want it right now. I want to wrap my lips around it. I want it hitting the back of my throat. I want all of it. To suck you off. To fuck you with my mouth. I want every last drop you have to give me.”

The player really was so much more than a sports romance. Family and friendship relationships are beautifully and realistically described and developed. The writing really is incredibly captivating and touching and their love story is already epic, and we have only seen the first part of it! I can’t wait to see what more Kristy Bromberg will bring to Scout and Easton’s story! Specially after the way The Player finished, I’m desperately counting down the days to The Catch!!! June 29th can’t come fast enough! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

“And what is it about you and romance novels? Is it the happily ever after? Is it the man who’s too good to be true? Because I assure you, we all have our flaws, even the fictional ones. But the happily ever after depends on what you put into it. The hard work, the listening instead of talking, the laughing instead of crying, the sticking it out instead of running away, the knowing that sometimes silence is best but having her wrapped in your arms can still solve a lot of problems. So, you can have your romance novels while I have my King and Follett and Patterson because I don’t want to read about having that kind of love someday. I’d rather be over here trying to take a chance at it in real life.”
